Going cold turkey? Clean you toilets!

I'll tell what, probably the best advice I can come up with. I was AF yesterday and so far today and thank God I keep my bathrooms clean! Although i did not always drink a ton I did drink just about every day towards the end there. My kids went to their Grandmas for a visit for a couple days and I really went overboard! Now on day 2 of AF and WD I can tell you the only way it could be worse is if I were throwing up in a not so clean toilet! So if you are stopping cold and think you may have WD, get out the 'ol toilet brushes first! :H
All kidding aside this WD is making it hard not to drink but I am going to another meeting again today so let's hope!

TM - Ouch! Sorry to hear of the awful WD. Day 2 for me as well. I've been pretty much living on this site and surfing the web to keep myself busy. TV bores me and I keep looking for my glass of wine that is supposed to be on the coffee table. Being on the computer doesn't trigger drinking, as I'm always on the computer for work (thankfully didn't take the drink to work!). I'm not throwing up, but my brain is going mach 10, my eyes feel like they can see like a hawk (?), and I'm a bit nervous/shaky/sweaty. I hope to see you on tomorrow as well telling us that you are now on day 3 and feeling better! (I hope to do the same

                    LMAO, TM!
And i agree. Cleaning the bathroom is a great thing to do in the first days of af. Put that restlessness to good use! Maybe make a list of how you're feeling during this period too, any reflections on drinking etc, pin it up somewhere, and REMEMBER, when you're feeling weak. Some inspiring quotes stuck up around the house helped me too. Great work, and keep going everyone!.............G.

Can't believe IAD has not yet posted a picture of praying to the porcelain god! Good for you, Twinsmommy, for staying AF thru such yuck. Just keep thinking how much better you will feel.

                              Hiya Me 1455,
Yep, it just gets better and better, but it might take a couple of months to start thinking/believing that longer term sobriety is possible for us. This was my experience. It is well worth it, my friend. Your world, life, and all it's possibilities will unfold before you. But you've gotta put in the work, and there is no magic pill. Read the thread by Providence, re- 'anyone here over 5 months af' or something. The 'toolbox' thread in monthly abstinence forums is a good read too.
                              Best wishes. Go for it!..............G.
