    My precious dog died a year ago today!

    After being AF for 3 months, I started back drinking 4/18/08 because she died. I was so upset. The AL didn't bring her back and didn't help the pain. I still miss her, but I have been AF since 1/28/09 and I'm not going to repeat that mistake.

    Rum is not my friend. This website came as a God Send to me.:thanks::l

      April, anyone who knows me here knows how I feel about my dogs. When my Wolfgang, a dog of a lifetime, died 3 years ago in June, I drank for a week straight, and then had to deal with pain all over again when sober. Recently, when my little Willow died, I didn't repeat the mistake. It still hurts like hell, but I don't have the AL to deal with too. Hugs to you today. My g'daughter said when we go to heaven, they'll come running to meet us. I'm counting on it. Remember your love and connection, all the great moments you had. I'm sure you baby knew she was lucky and treasured.

          Oh, the doggieness of dogs! It is they who are made out of our heartribs. The one quality everyone speaks of is their "unconditional love." Well, yes. But there's another quality all dogs share, which is a full part of their doggieness, and the bloodstream of their affections.

          All dogs are always sober. May we honor them in emulation.

            April, I so know how you feel. But you are lucky to have shared your life for the time you did.

              Me too. I soon will lose my best buddy in the picture. Its gettin harder for him to breathe by the day.

                  April...it's been about a year since I lost my first Chi....Max. He was a good friend. I know what your going through. I went out and got me Ace...my new Chi. it's helps some........IAD

                    My heart goes out to all of you that have lost your best friends.
                    I have to tell you - when I looked at the picture of your dog, my heart skipped a beat! I thought I was looking at my departed friend 'Ranger'. He was a Golden Ret., nearly 14 years old and the best buddy I've ever had. We have since adopted 2 dogs - but it's just not the same............

                      Gabs, I am stepping over the line here..... Please put him down. He has had cancer and has suffered through it all like a trouper. But , it is time. I wish I could be there for you; and with you. Please don't let him suffer anymore. xoxo

                        Gabby, and all...I too lost my precious best friend, Lindcee last August to cancer. She was only 11yrs old. She was the love of my life. That 3mos from the time she was diagnosed was the hardest 3mos of my life, watching her get sicker and sicker. There is not a day goes by that I don't think of her.

                        But I also have my baby, Piper, the one in my avatar. She will NEVER be Lincee, but she is the bright spot of my life, currently. There is nothing that compares to the unconditional love of a dog.

                        Hugs to you all for all your losses, it is an unfortunate part of life. I look forward to meeting up with my babies in heaven some day.

                          My Jack Russell Terrier is in her last days: 90% kidney failure, congestive heart failure, seizures which are fairly well-controlled with phenobarbitol. The pee and poop are not under control, but we are accommodating. She will leave a big empty space. They are such good friends to us.
                          My life is better without alcohol, since 9/1/12. My sobriety tool is the list at permalink 236 on the toolbox thread under monthly abstinance.

                            afm....your not steppin over the line. "The time" is defintally nearing. Not quite yet tho. He is staring at me wanting my food right now. : )

                              and plus....its amazing how he really hasnt suffered. Now me....thats anther story but zig has had a super life. very spoiled.
