It's Our Beloved Lorisunshine's Birthday !!!
Ahhhhhhh, you guys, thanks so much. I had a wonderful day, except the weather did not cooperate. The storm outside is howling like a banshee and had to go and pick up all my garbage in a driving rainstorm. But no matter, it's just weather!
This is my first birthday in over a quarter century that I am 100 % sober and it feels so good I can't tell you. I know, I know, most of you have not lived as long as I have been drinking. I may be "mature" but I have certainly found my zest for life again and I have oodles of plans of what to do with the rest of my life and persueing my present career is not one of them. I am sick to death of my job "AND I DON'T WANT TO DO IT ANYMORE".
Here are a few of the things that I want to do:
I want to be able to spend time with my daughter whenever the fancy strikes us.
I want to collaborate with my daughter on getting a childrens book off the ground, as in "I write and she does the illustrations".
I want to paint and study painting in Italy (for a couple of months, maybe).
I want to read yards of books and listen to audio books while I am painting.
I want to learn Spanish well enough so I can intelligently communicate with people rather than draw in the sand.
I finally want to finish the mural in the guest room.
I want to travel - even if I have to live in an old wine barrel at a beach...LOL, and visit my friends in Europe.
I want to dispose of anything that I have not used in 2 years and clean out my work room and my studio and I will not acquire anything that is not absolutely essential to my physical or mental well being.
Most of all I hope that I will never loose my curiosity to learn and my gratitude for finding my way out of the abyss. Yes, it can be done, if I could do it, so can you and the rewards are so bountiful on the other side.
As I am coming up on 11 months without alcohol I should stand a fair chance to check off most of the items on my bucket list within the next 10 years.
