What drink do you use to replace alcohol?

    Hi,

Just wondering what people use to replace alcohol. What do you drink with dinner now or after dinner?

If you go out and socialise what do you drink then?

Hi Millie, I've created the best virgin cocktail - cranberry juice & ginger beer (the good stuff - Bundaberg ginger beer) and a lime, in a nice tall glass. I really look forward to it at 5pm which is when I used to have a wine. Or a soda water with a squeeze of lime is also good.

Oh, and I don't go out!!!!

Angelcakes, your ginger beer drink sounds good! My favorite drink is sparkling water with a bit of pure cranberry juice (as in 100% cranberry juice). There seems to be something about the bitter in the cranberry that satisfies so well. AND it is very good for the liver!

I don't go out either, but if I ever do I would probably ask for this same drink, or an NA beer.
        FINALLY -- I'm a non-drinker!!

I drink sparkling water of all sorts but I am going to try some of the ideas above. I drink Pelligino, Calistoga, Perrier and the cheaper brands also. I do go out but now to bars or pubs....I've been to parties and bring some of my own beverage to be safe. One night I had to drink plain water and felt a little "sorry" for myself but that is it. Something fizzy to excite my mouth. Cheap seltzer with a hefty squeeze of citrus (I prefer plain seltzer and lime) works. I had sprite and lime at a party and that was good. I make my own decaf teas that I love for iced tea. If I want something hot I love a cup of herbal tea. However at the moment I am on a coffee binge. I'm going away in a week so I'll quit then. God I sound like the alcoholic that I am. :H Sorry if my laughing offended anyone. I was suprised that "I'll quit then" rolled so easily off my fingertips.

                Where to begin...

Since I have a few minutes to kill, I was going to give this some thought and then give the definitive answer, as I'm prone to do;:H
                but you know what?
                There is so MUCH!
There are SOOO many tasty things to drink
that I don't consider "substitutes" or "second choices" to AL,
that I scarcely know where to begin or what to recommend.

There are exotic 100% juice drinks from anything they can squeeze.
There are waters, sparkling waters, and flavored waters
from every spring, lake, river and faucet in the world.
                Someone mentioned a high quality ginger beer;
those high end soft drinks are great.
                Just look around your market.
Since you are not heading for the beer and wine section,
the WHOLE WORLD OPENS UP TO YOU.

Something important to me is to avoid the NA beers and wines.
If that's what you have a taste for,
you can only fool yourself for so long
and then you are going to cave!
Most of them taste like piss anyway.:yuk:

Learn to enjoy the other fluids for what they are,
                and you won't feel cheated.
They hydrate, they refresh and the actually NOURISH you.
                Have fun with them.
                ~Kid~

                Yes; and COFFEE,COFFEE,COFFEE!!!
Without AL in your life, you don't have to buy the cheap stuff anymore.

                Get an Espresso machine.
It is not how much we have, but how much we enjoy, that brings us happiness.
