hi starts,ive never been on perozac,everything else but,i no coming off of valuum and drinking was horrible,could hardly stand up,withdrawl was so severe,,you are a very patient person,it will leave your system quite quickly,i wish you well gyco

Hey Startingover,
I had a hard time coming off of Prozac, even though I did it slowly, and as you said there's a long half-life. I felt blue, and I even had those "brain shocks" you may have heard of...A weird sensation that there's a little electrical current jolting through your head, especially when you turn it fast.

I started taking fish oil, which instantly relieved that symptom, and gradually I began to feel better. I decided, ultimately, that the depression I felt was a "rebound" or withdrawal effect, and not a return of old symptoms. I am still prone to depression if I drink. When I don't drink for a few days, my mood lifts, and it's wonderful...Now if only I could stay in that state!

I agree that you probably shouldn't take medical advice from non-medical people. But sometimes doctors just don't know enough about the drugs they prescribe. I was taken off Effexor very quickly, and it was awful. My doctor thought it just meant I needed to be on meds. I didn't believe it meant that...I think you have to give it time. If you really don't want to be on Prozac, give it a little more time, take care of yourself, don't drink, and see how you do. I wish you well!!!

I am taking fish oil too and am going to up my supplements in general i think.
I would like to give this time, but its not easy is it?
I truly believe I can live a life without drugs, so I am determined to give it my best shot.
