Evening all,
Nice to see you Macca, and keep up the great attitude.
For me, (yes, let's talk about me) it's about deciding what i want from my life. It's important for me to change my old habit's, and thinking patterns. After many years of alcohol, or rather, self abuse, this aint easy to do overnight. But we must. We must think, plan, and do. We must change a part of our lifestyle that caused great damage. It may have totally been our lifestyle. Emotional, physical, psychological, financial, social, damage. Little bits at a time, but also pro-active in our construction of our new life. It can be scary to start with, but really exciting too, when you consider all the possibilities. If i weigh up the pro's and con's of not drinking, and this is only for me, then my road is obvious. Once i had found a direction, and finally worked out what i had to do, for ME, at THIS time in my life, giving up drinking was a completely different kettle of fush. Still hard, but so much easier. No more torturous mental struggles as to whether i could moderate like other's or not. When the path is clear, and our relationship with al is understood (at last!), the fog starts to lift.
Best wishes.......
