    looking for a little help

    Dex

I joined around the same time as you as felt horribly frustrated that everybody else seemed to manage to quit/mod, and I just wasn't getting anywhere.

I tried Topa, but the side effects were too bad- I got blurred vision, the insert says to STOP IMMEDIATELY if that happens.

I am finally making some headway thanks to Naltrexone- I take it everyday around 5pm- it either stops me picking up or I do drink but I no longer get the 'buzz', or feeling that I have to slam it down as fast as I can- many times it just sits there and ends up down the sink.

I also like the sound of Baclofen- if your doctor won't prescribe can you possibly just order online? After all, it is your life we are talking about.

        looking for a little help

I'm catching up on some old posts, and new, and just read this one. It made me realize in the (almost) year I've been here how many of you have come to mean so much, and how much more I understand about the struggle. Gyco, my poet friend, leaves great, deep messages, and so many offer hope and help. I just read a post from Chief that you should read, Dex. It breaks it down so simply, tho it is never simple. Find something to do while that craving passes. It's amazing the things I've done in the last year! If my back will let me, I may learn BellyDancing next! Seriously, we decide what we want, and we read, investivgate, inform ourselves, until we can do. BTW, I do LOVE all you peeps!

          My precious Dex,

I feel a kinship with you for I as well have struggled getting myself free from this disorders power and control.
I tried the TOPA to no avail. I still take almost every supp, except for the vitamin powder.
I would encourage the possibility of one of the other medicines. It sounds like the Baclofen has some possibilities.
Thank the stars their are other possibilities which encourages hope.
I wish to make a pac with you to not loose hope for I have struggled over this last binge to take myself out of this realm. I know personally how lonely one can feel; I know the dispair.
You were always kind and caring, especially when I would post under its spell.
You are a friend and a good person that has been smitten with this beast of a battle.
There is going to be a moment of absolute clairity. May you dream of the love and freedom of that experience as you surround that better idea like an army around this enemy.

With open arms of support to you~
