    Army Thread 14th May

My daughters daughter (8) came to funeral home for viewing of sister-iin-law's mom last week. It was her first such experience, and she was FASCINATED by the body, so much so it got embarassing for her mom and me, but the rest of the family thought it was funny. We had to take turns keeping her out of that room. She's ethereally beautiful, but Hubs says he expects her head to spin and pea soup to spew any minute. It's never dull around us.

The kids are great....I'm just glad that I'm a grandfather now and get all the good stuff and not so much of the other.

Speaking of the little heathens, the 2 who are home sick just called in a request for my homemade bean soup. How can I turn the poor little fevered waifs down? LOL

            Morning all
Sorry for not checking in yesterday but I was that knackered after the intense trauma of the presentation and then my daughter was doing an school assignment on the computer last night so I went to bed early. I hardly slept the night before worrying about it so I slept for 12 hours last night - after my run of course. Funny thing is I said to my daughter can I have MY computer she said you will just be talking to those people who you dont even know on MWO. I was like well they are the only ones that have supported me in my quest for sobriety thank you very much... Some people eh...

and Evie Lou's 1 year of sobriety - amazing. Thanks evie lou for all the inspiration over the last year and congrats you are an inspiration. And you have certainly opened my mind up to all sorts of weird and wonderful things that I had never thought of before.

                  Army Thread 14th May

It didnt go too badly after all although as you gathered I was absolutely shitting myself. I was thinking of throwing myself in front of a bus or something on the way in. The other girl had all the slides prepared and 30+ folders with a whole load of bumf ready to hand out but just as we were leaving the photocopier broke down so we were a little late so didnt have too much time to think about it as we ran up the road carrying all the folders etc. It was at the bank's offices and it was the private banking team so dead posh. I near shit myself when I saw them all sitting in rows in the board room with a view to die for all over the city. Anyway she went up the front to set up the power point etc and I quickly flung myself into one of the front row seats - trying my best to make myself look like a participant rather than a presenter. Then she realised she had forgotten the cord for the computer so she gave me her phone and asked me to ring the office and get her secretary to bring the cord down up the road to us. So I spent ages fiddling with the phone and went in and out the door a few times - making like I was an lowly assistant rather than a presenter or anyone that might be required to say something. In fact I got stuck outside the door and had to knock to get back in which was a bit embarrassing but I sort of muttered something about it's on the way and slinked back into my seat. Anyway we finally got started and she introduced me and said I was a reluctant participant as I had not got much notice and I was just going to give her some back up blah blah blah so I just sat there for a while until I got comfortable and relaxed a bit and I didnt mind answering questions etc from my seat which was fine. I even made a few wise cracks once I got into it and got a few laughs so that was good. When we finished they thanked us and gave us a gift of two beautiful sort of cook books from a local posh restaurant (never been there!). And later on they sent us emails with pictures of flowers. I tell you I aged 10 years in the last 24 hours.
I was a nervous wreck. Thank fuck that is over.

Well I wouldnt go as far as to say I aced it but i managed to give the impression that I was just there by accident. The scary thing was they were all so young looking. Somehow I seem to have lost ten years of my life. I would never ever have done that had I been drinking - well I couldnt have done it as I would probably have drank the night before and even if I made it I would probably have thrown up on the bus, shit myself in the board room and reeked of drink.

They were glass doors too so they could see me struggling to get in! They were probably thinking what a gobshite....but once I didnt have to go and stand up the front I did not care.. Never again I tell you. Now I am off today so I am going to get some new runners and some clothes to wear running. What did you get Starts?

I got Adidas Star Ride, they are a neutral shoe because I wear orthotics but with a lot of cushioning.
God I sound as if I know what i`m talking about dont i?
I looked at some trousers and a bum bag too, but couldnt bring myself to spend anymore that day. So will wait a few day until the palpitations end then will go again.
