I have finished helping at my neighbors house after his mother's funeral. It used to be that everyone would come in and have tons of food ready, but I had them leave the door open this morning and told them I'd make lunch instead of coming to the service, and NO ONE else came to help. I had cooked enough for Pharoah's Army, thank goodness, as there were about 20-25 people, and about 10 of them weighed over 200#'s!! The woman who died had lived down the street from me for 33 years, and her son lives between our houses now, so everything was there. I have never seen people eat SO much!sigpic

How kind of you. Your neighbor is very lucky to have you. Yes, I find people just don't help each other like they used to. When we went back for my fil's funeral we received help from our dearest friends (one family) but that was it. Thought our church would have even helped more as the boys were left with a babysitter and dinners for them would have been nice.
Things have changed. Everyone feels like they're too busy...so that was just awesome of you!~

Thanks Eve. Its just what I was 'raised' to do. My friend's husband, who is in his 70's and in poor health, told me over and over how much it meant to him, and how good it was to know they were cared about by good people. (He knew my parents, and that's where I learned by acts the blessing of Christian fellowship.) It was a small thing for me, really, but obviously meant a lot to them. And it WAS good food! LOLsigpic
