    What's with the red wine?

Wow - I calculated the calories in my wine too - AND also checked the alcohol content if I was debating between two types. hmmmm, guess I did have a problem!

I liked red in the cooler months and chardonnay in the summer.

That's OK, Accountable, I am laughing at me over that one -- pretty hideous, indeed! :H

Peanut, I had forgotten about the purple stained teeth! 'Very attractive as well, especially first thing in the morning after passing out the night before.

        What's with the red wine?

Shortly after baby was born, I acquired the nasty habit of switching to wine, usually red, at some point in the evening. It used to be that the evening was a "beer" night or a "wine" night, based on what went better with dinner. This "switching" business has really done me in.

Yep! Red was my choice of poison and then Vodka with Cranberry juice. I guess I like the color red! I too started to look at the % level on the back before buying. Why? I knew I was going to drink the entire bottle.

            Because more is better
right? Heehee. A higher AL content somehow meant a better buzz?? Heaven was a 13% AL or higher bottle. I even used to kid myself that the higher AL content meant a higher quality wine.

              What's with the red wine?

There was a thread on here years ago titled "I don't have a drinking problem if the wine is expensive" or something like that. LOL

                What's with the red wine?

This discussion really helps as I reflect on my drinking history. I found I could routinely drink a couple of glasses of red wine while I prepared dinner, another glass during the meal and a fourth (or fifth) after dinner. That's most of a big bottle which I'd hide in the bottom cabinent. The next night there'd be enough to get started again. My husband couldn't believe I could still function, since wine makes him really tired. I really wonder if women have a different physical reaction. After 5 glasses ,though, I was pretty feisty. And how about the red mustache ? And the extra pounds ....

Oh, I could drink 3 bottles of white in a night. What its done to my poor liver is not good...

Lemonhead, one of the books (I'll have to wrack my brain) talks about different types of drinkers. There are some that get sleepy when they drink. There are others that get energized/fired up (or as you say, "feisty"). These types of drinkers tend to be alcoholics.

I think it was Seven Weeks to Sobriety? (the book)

Oh yeah, and I'm one of those. Oh, the projects I have started drunk at crazy hours of the night. Thank God I've never burned the house down.

its supposed to be good for us providing we have a 1/2 of a glass each day. thats it.
personally i never liked red wine, one glass would imobilze me, i could not drink it all.
red wine would ruin my day completely, any wine for that matter.

It immoblized me too......far to many times!!!!!! I couldn't drink it either, but I sure kept trying. It usually ruined that day and the day after....sometimes the day after that.

And, lest any of us forget... the dreaded wine headache! There's nothing quite like it, especially from red wine. I think the sulfites contribute to it, at least for me. Ugh!

And yet, I went back night after night to get that same headache! Seems so senseless in hindsight.
