I see where your coming from but he might not. Sounds to me like you need to agree to a break away together before showing him various options. This isn't critisism just a suggestion.
A while back I renovated an old house and it took over six months of hard slog. My wife also suggested a short break for exactly the same reasons but at the time all I wanted to do was get it finished. It was like she was making light of all that had to be done and just wanted a holiday. I hope this makes sense, its not easy to explain.
Finally maybe just a weekend away somewhere closer to home might be an idea?

Ronnie, Bali is lovely, and ok cost wise. We love Ubud and have done cycling and white water rafting. We also had a great hol on Moreton in QLD, but it might be a bit of a busdrivers s hol for you.
