    What I spent my money on this week...

    Recap - Recently cut out the 5th of rum and coke I'd been drinking - per day - for years. I'd been spending $20-$25 a day on the habit (and we're not well to do by any means .. I usually keep aside a portion of my pay from work.).

    Anyway ... Last week, I "saved" about $150 that would normally have been used to maintain my "habit", so I took my youngest (daughter 16) shopping for clothes ... which is something I hadn't been able to do in a long time. What a great feeling!

    Just wanted to share.

    Hope everyone's having a nice weekend with lots of positives and good feelings. Keep on fighting!

      It's amazing how much our bad habits cost us. That is great and I bet your daughter is excited about her new wardrobe!

          That is a great story. What wonderful motivation for you to keep going. That was a lot to consume in a week - you must be feeling quite clear - good work!

                Cat, that is a wonderful gift you were able to give your daughter. Not only did she have a sober Mom this week...which I am sure she cherished, but she got to go shopping with you ...all teenage girls LOVE LOVE LOVE shopping. I have a teenage girl myself.
                It is AMAZING how much we save when we stop drinking!!!!!!
