Our last home in the UK was built in the 1940's...We had a few problems here and there but I would still swap it anyday for the prefab type houses they build here...

Sure built them solid then alright, in my old house the walls were mass concrete and about a foot thick. With the new house a lot of the construction is done off site and they do the block work when its assembled on site. Kinda building from the inside out.

Horizons, I would rather my house than some of the new builds we see here too. The rooms are just soooo small, and the gardens, well, they are hardly worth having some of them.

KT, we have just had a quote for a new roof for our current house...we asked the builder if he could put a proper British roof on, not just shingle...he nearly fell over laughing...he said the house would collapse under the weight...go figure!
