To AA Or Not To AA any Success Stories Appreciated.

    Brett,
I think most of us want our cake and eat it too. Some call it moderating (and that is in no way dissing those who moderate successfully). We want to drink like "normal" people but we do not want all of the horrible repercussions the next day. Normal drinkers do not face those issues, as least not on a regular basis.

Feel free to PM me. I understand your struggle. I cannot be so bold as to say, as you have, that as of a certain date I will stop drinking. If that plan will buy you success, then good for you. I am too afraid of failure.

A big thank you to you all.

I'm contemplating a Wednesday night meeting at a nearby venue. It is the only day they have a meeting there. It will also be my first day AF. 1-7-09

Thanks to all who have taken the time to reply.

Your input has helped me greatly.

Regarding my date to give up. No! I'm not an accountant!!! :H

It's just a date that I came up with about 6 weeks ago. Ever since I have been telling myself that this is the last day that I will drink. It feels comfortable, so why not?

      Thanks again.

      Brett.

I dont want to be the negative one here, but I personally am not a fan of AA. I went for about a year and I started to see the political side of it and all that goes on behind the scenes and I was turned off. But like another poster said...take what you want and leave the rest. I just never felt comfrtable at he meetings and perhaps that is just my personality. I am a veryprivate person ad sharing my thoughts and feelings in front of a group of mostl strangers isnt for me.
If you decide to go find a group you feel good with....I wish you the best.

          Hi Dave.

Thanks for the reply. I appreciated your honesty.

I'm sure it doesn't work for everyone.

As the others have said, only I can be the judge of that.

          Thanks again.
