Ironing
Zen, I've seen those Extreme Ironers! Hanging off cliffsides and the like....
I was ironing once while drinking (well duh, more than once), not long after my wedding, so all the gifts were still piled up in the living room. I had set the hot iron on the living room floor (more duh), and must have gone to sleep. Woke up the next morning with a big black triangular iron mark burned thru the carpet, and a plastic shop vac that we had received as a gift (we had registered at Sears; we're pretty practical) had a hole melted into it. I woke up late for work, called in sick (hungover), called my landlord in tears saying I'd burnt the carpet. Thankfully they were able to stretch the edge of the carpet out, so the repair only cost about $100. And oh yeah, thankfully I didn't burn the fecking house down!

Yeah, maybe we need a thread alongside the "What I hate, loathe, and just can't stand about drinking" thread called "Here are the dangerous and just plain stupid things I've done while drinking." Except we might get ourselves arrested. Or killed, if our spouses and friends read them. (Hubby knew about the iron -- how could I hide that?)
And yeah, Zenny, that was pretty extreme. It took me over a year to replace the shop vac housing. Too mortified to even deal with it.
