    Non-Alcholic beer anyone?

    Hello everyone!

I have read that some of us here are beer drinkers and beer is your drink of choice. Especially the men! It is definitely one of my favorites too even though I am female, so I thought I'd start this thread just to bring about the topic.

It is available here in Canada and am wondering if it is available where you live too?

Well, I've been purchasing this lately and really like it! It certainly fills the void when you get home from work and feel the urge to have a drink. I find myself really looking forward to it, and guaranteed I can always stop after just one! :wd:

So, my question to all you beer drinkers......have you tried any of these brands of non-alcoholic beer? Do you like it?

We have them here, never tried one though. Seems kinda like hunting with blanks. Maybe they'll come up with NA Vodka one day. Hmmm....

P.S. Does it taste like real beer? If it works for anyone, go for it. I would be scared it may make me want a real one.

        Non-alcoholic vodka! LOL.

Re. the beer .. I've seen it on the grocery store shelves (I'm in Canada too), but never tried it. If someone served it to you and didn't tell you, could you tell it's non-alcoholic? I switched to beer from hard liquor recently when I was tapering off .. I don't like it all that much, but it grows on ya.
AF for two years. Slight relapse. Working on it at the moment.

I have tried Kaliber (made by Guinness) and Buckler -- can't remember who makes it. I like Kaliber better. I'm not a fan of O'Doul's or Sharps. Too bad the NA beers cost the same as their AL counterparts! They oughta be cheaper!

Does it taste like the real thing? No.....close but no cigar. If someone served you one I think you'd know the difference. But I find it helps and I enjoy it!

The only way to find out would be to try it out for yourself! Can't be that bad right?

I think they (the AF beers) are a little fizzier, and not quite as complex in flavor. If any of you have ever had home brew, it reminds me of when they are a little off (hubby brewed beer and made wine for a long time).

Kaliber is really good though. Much "stronger" than a regular lite beer. The reason why they are so expensive is because there is actually more of a process with them. They are made just like regular beer and then the alcohol is taken out.
This time around I am personally staying away from them. For me, there's no point. Yes I love the taste of beer, but I think that is because I want the buzz. I don't drink for taste, I drink because I am a drunk. And like Goodboy said, it's like hunting with blanks, or better yet, making sweet love without an "O".

Yeah, Lukalee and Goodboy, like decaf coffee or lowfat cheese. Although I will admit that I did enjoy having 1 or 2 on a hot summer day last year, esp. when hubby was drinking. Sometimes the lemon water and other alterna-bevs just don't cut it.

I agree. I think I need to try to find a new alternative. I even hate water. I drink too much diet soda.

Trader Joe's had a pretty good Pomegranate Green Tea, sold in 1-liter bottles for $1.49, that I liked. Haven't had it in a while, though. It kinda looked like white wine when you poured it in a glass.

Once in awhile I'll have an NA beer--but usually with tomato juice and green olives.

Beer and tomato juice? You have mentioned this before - sounds like an odd combo to me. Is that a Nebraska thing? (lol) Vodka and tomato juice (bloody mary) -- that is a combo I recognize. And I am not even a vodka drinker.

Somebody posted recently about being on a camping trip where someone had bacon flavored vodka. Now that's gross!
