THE NEXT DAY THREAD Saturday 20th June
Day 3 no AL
Hi all,
Is day 3 for me AF. Still feeling a bit shattered from Wednesday and am eating like a trooper cause when I feel full I dont want to drink. Fell asleep just after 8pm last night and feel I could sleep forever - that normal?
Boredom is going to be a big problem for me, need to take up a new hobby any suggestions??

THE NEXT DAY THREAD Saturday 20th June
Hi Carolyn,
Good stuff for day 3!!
Eating is great to keep the cravings away.
For me too, sleep is my saviour. I slept for England withdrawing from booze, dont worry it will even out.
Yes, boredom can be a huge trigger. For me, I took up exercising again. I ran my first race a couple of weeks ago. Reading, Yoga, walking I have also done an open uni short course. Just learning to be with myself really.
I am certainly much less bored than I used to be sitting in front of the TV with a glass beside me.
What do you like to do?Living now and not just existing since 9th July 2008
Nicotine Free since 6th February 2009

THE NEXT DAY THREAD Saturday 20th June
Hi Startingover,
I am not sure what I like to do as I have spent a lot the last 30 years drinking (started as a teenager) or nursing a hangover. My drinking has mostly been done socially so I like being around others. Maybe join an exercise group - help me with all the eating I am doing at least! Anyway I must persist as if I dont I will die early and would love at least a few years of a sober adult life. My enzymes in my liver are raised so need to do something for sure. Isnt it funny that when pregnant I did not drink as I thought my babies were important enough to stop and yet I have never thought I was important enough to stop.
Not all bad though as it tells me that if I have done it before I can do it again x

THE NEXT DAY THREAD Saturday 20th June
Hi Carolyn, so true, you can do it again and everyone is here to help each other. Joining an exercise group sounds like a good idea and it could be fun as well, I might think about doing that as I tend to get bored during the day plus there is only so much house work you can do in a week
Where in Oz do you come from?:dancin: enguin:

THE NEXT DAY THREAD Saturday 20th June
Hi from Mackay in North Queensland. Love WA though. Travelled Aus in 2005 and loved all of WA. Tasmania is beautiful but a bit cold.
30 years is a long time hey Zen.
Have read some of the Dalai Lamas books and he says that those who have abused their bodies with drugs need to sit down and with no distraction sincerely apologise to their body for what you have put it through, give thanks to your body for getting you this far and then make a sincere pact with your body to be kinder from now on as you would with a loved one if you had treated them poorly. From this he says you have a new beginning and do not look in the past with regret.
