It was WONDERFUL.
Our seats were at the side of the stage about 40foot up and about 60 feet from the stage. So we had really good side view of everything. As usual I forgot the binoculars, but the big TV screen was just to my right so I could look at that.
Art actually sought me out and waved at ME!!! Swoon. Well... I think it was me he waved at.
Disappointingly the memorabilia for sale was $50 T shirts, $25 mugs, $35 booklets and $30 caps. No DVDs, no CDs. Drat. I actually had the exchanged SX10 with me in the car as I'd swapped it at HN on the way up to Sydney, but no SD card. Bugger, I could've recorded the show, as it had record facility on it. Didn't even think of it. Didn't even think to take a camera in as it ain't allowed, but with so many mobile phones they can no longer police it so have changed the rule to no professional photography.
They sang all their wonderful songs, April she will come, The Boxer, Mrs Robinson, BOTW, Diamonds on the soles of her shoes ah huh ah huh, I hear the rythmn of the rain, Sounds of silence etc etc. Paul did some wonderful acoustic work. The band is mega talented... one of the lead guitarists also played (classical) cello, pipe (I'd rather be a forest than a street) and some other instrument, whilst another guitarist also played sax and an amazing sort of clarinetty thing, with audience either clapping along or swaying and humming and singing and when Paul did some of his Graceland stuff we actually stoood up and danced (as much as one can in Acer Arena.) They got standing ovations, but unfortunately foot stomping on concrete doesn't have the same effect as stomping on a wooden floor.
The audience was enthralled. I last saw PS in Oz at the Entertainment Centre when he did his Graceland show, 15 years ago. (God, was it that long ago!!?) He had a couple of musos from that band on this tour.
Parts of it was very romantic... Mr Rags and I actually held hands and looked at each others like teenagers with sweaty palms and racing hearts......
It was a wonderful show. Tawny, if you can get last minute tickets for their show in Melbourne, grab em and go. You won't be disappointed. Except for the stuff on sale.
