What's Love Got to Do with It?

"What's Love got to do with it"? by Tina Turner
"All you need is Love". by John Lennon
...two of my favorite songs ...

    Both relevant here...
    • See I think that when you care, I mean really care -- you just have to call it like it is!
    • And unfortunately, It is always an unpopular thing to do!.
    • Therefore, it usually, takes courage. Because it is for the best for "all" those involved.
That is the "What's Love Got to do with it" mode.
      • This is what CV, Lucky, Camper, Lush, others did..because they actually "feel/care/love" for Bambino & Lou and their serious alcohol problem... but they also care for others on the board that they know & love. So they get their grief.
      • I say thank you to all those who stand up in life.
    • Now -- I also deeply, deeply believe in the power of forgiveness.
    • This is God, who God is -- in every religion.I have studied & practiced many religions. At the heart of the one I prefer is forgiveness.Powerful powerful tool and path through & way out of everythingSo we have those many very sweet members like Jenneh, Gabby, Kathy..so many othersI say thank you to love
    yada..yada..yada..how I can go on...
So Perhaps it is good to have both songs in our journey:
"All you need is Love". & "What's Love got to do with it?"

    Later...Luv..Chrysa

    Thanks

Thank-you Chrysa- Yes it took alot to stand up to Bambino and Lou to save this board but I think we're all back on track now and they're still with us and understand. I enjoyed your thoughts about the interwovenness (is that a word?) of all faith beliefs? I attend Protestant services and have been in "born again" groups but I have developed an appreciation for Native American reverance of Mother Earth. Isn't that at the heart of the ill our society is suffering from today? - an arrogance that we can outwit the environment? I also enjoy the Buddhist beliefs of Pema Chodron. She really speaks to me and reaches my heart like no one else. I'm hoping that she can soften me and allow me to reconnect to some Christian beliefs. I've been in the process of questionning many of them as I try to get this demon of alcohol off my back. For one thing, I don't like the whole male, worship something outside yourself thing.
I could so easily get drunk tonight over my hatred of George Bush, our President and his stupidity but I'm trying to hold off. The thought that my son is in Iraq because he is too stupid to understand history just appalls me. He has created a mess for this country that is beyond comrehension. I AM an historian, I teach it and pay attention to it. The neocons he surrounds himself with loved his ignorance and pushed this stupid foreign policy down all our throats. Now we're stuck in this unwinable situation. I know we're from all walks of life and come from all perspectives, but as Americans we must all wake up. There is no war to be won against terrorists. We can only defend ourselves. Oh, but I'm preaching, and this is not the purpose of these boards either, now is it? Just venting. So I don't drink.
Back to Chrysa - Like an onion - you keep unwrapping the layers as you can. It's painful and it takes time. Just be easy on yourself. O.K.? You're a love. Em

Em, I understand how you feel. I haven't been to Iraq, but I work with a Task Force that goes there to try to help and get everyone out. I've also been on active duty with the military twice, because I believe some things are necessary, whether we agree with the "leaders" or not.

Keep strong for your son and be grateful for his convictions and faith. The military is like a "family" and is very unique and away from the politics, although sometimes the politics drives the direction.

I'll support you and you just support your son so that he can return home to you and yours in the best of times.:l

Yes, the Country is a Mess

cV1 and Chysalis - Wow! Sounds like we have some common interests. How do I email you two (if that's O.K. with). I don't want to take up the boards with the more personal stuff. But I will say that Pema Chodron has written many books. "Start Where You Are" is a good one to begin with. I'm trying to discipline myself to read a little bit every morning and it's helping me to heal. (I started a thread - Some Good things happening - and wrote about taking my mother-in-law for a ride in my son's Jeep.) That was the outcome of reading some "Pema."
cV, thanks for the work you do (did?) I'm glad you reminded me of the family aspect of the miltary because when I went to Fort Bragg to say good-bye to my son we attended a party with his platoon. I got to witness how close they are and how they care for each other. I talked with some of the other guys and they're just such "good people." It gave me alot of hope and comfort and still does. I think of all of them every day. What annoys the blank out of me is that Bush is off at his ranch and then up at Kennybunkport lallying around while this country is in deep doo-doo in so many areas. But that belongs on the rant board, so I'll go there next.
I just love the connections we have here. Thanks ladies! Em

What's Love Got to Do with It?

Hey Em, please rant away...I agree that there has been some "foolish" decisions that I would not take. My daughter was in Katrina and it took my BF and I four or five days to find her and then they didn't want to let me in to get her or to let her out to me (of course they weren't able to keep me from getting her!)

She's doing much better now and is in the Metro DC area with me working for a law firm now...so much better than eeking a living bartending in a Dive in Metairie.

Don't get me wrong, bartending is a skill that saved me years ago, because it's a great skill to have, but it's not a living, especially not for someone like me now:H Better to be the hostess that provides those for drinking or not!

I'd love to email so if you click on my name, a little menu opens up and gives you the option to send a private message. I may have enable my profile with my personal email also.

Take care Em...again to Chrysa, thank you for the great post...:thanks:
