    Some drawbacks of drinking

My incident wasn't a stabbed thumb nor was it anything causing blood shed and neither did it happen reciently. We had just built a new home in the mountains by my design, and I had a Corning Cook Top stove top. I think I was heating water for posta while drinking my usual evening wine. The door bell rang and I walked outside with the neighbor calling. When I went back the water pot had boiled dry and melted all over the new cook top and it had burned through the top into the element. I was embarassed to report it to our insurance, so just bought another one. Expensive neglegence. This happened about 24 yrs ago.

      Some drawbacks of drinking

      Hiya all,
I have'nt really cut myself either but i used to do this every night. I'd sit there in my chair and drink solid for about 3 hours then suddenly stand up to go to the toilet....Not realise how drunk i was and walk into the door frame on the way out of the room.....Also i woke up on the bedroom floor a few times.....That bed shrinks when you've had a drink.
I don't care who you are...Your not walking on water while i'm fishing..
One drink is too many... A thousand is never enough...Sober since July 2nd 2009

        Laughing

I swear I should not be laughing at all of your stories but I am. My proudest moment was when my mom got remarried only a year after my dad had passed away. They had been so happily married that I was saddened that she had moved on so quickly. Anyhow, night before the wedding I got completely poisoned with my brother who is three times the size of me so he can handle it. The next morning I was beyond, beyond, beyond hungover, it was 98 degrees out (us Seattle-ites cannot handle the heat and especially when you are hungover) and I had to be my mom's bridesmaid. My mom was pissed at me because I was all puffy and still smelled of wine because of all of the sweating I was doing. Still do not know how I made it through the service but I could not get to the reception fast enough to get a buzz going again to make myself feel better. Thought I was fine until we were getting ready to leave and I developed the hiccups, which is the worst thing in the world that can happen to me; they just piss me off. I caused a big scene in the lobby yelling at my husband to make them stop, make them stop. So here he is trying to scurry off and then sneak up behind me to scare me because he had heard that was a good cure for them and he also wanted me to shut the f*** up because my now new stepfamily (all NINE children, spouses and their kids for a total of about 30 people) were standing there watching me. They are all VERY successful, rich people and had never met me before. My brother finally pulled up in the car in front of this posh hotel to pick us up and since the hiccups still had not gone away and I had so much booze in me I started to get into the car but not before I puked all over the sidewalk with my stepfamily just staring at me with their jaws wide open. I tried to yell out that I had food poisoning and they better be careful if they ate the same food I did!!!! My poor husband, who is a non drinker, was mortified. My dear, sweet mother passed away last year and I had to go down and see all of them again (it has been 12 years since this incident) but I just knew that was all they were thinking about when they saw me. The funny thing is I am no longer than type of a drinker at all but I still drink too much.
I'm really easy to get along with once people learn to worship me

          Some drawbacks of drinking

Hi everyone, I am new here. I went out last weekend and had too many drinks. I tripped over and faceplanted the ground, now i have the biggest black eye I have ever seen. I am lucky i didn't break any bones. This is the last straw, I have decided it is time to give up drinking for good. i have not had a drink since then (2 days) I am hoping I can stay strong. :new:
