im going to plan an american themed evening for me and the kids, going to have a bbq and make hamburgers, hotdogs and brownies for afters with icecream and drink lemonade!! Then we will all sit down and watch american pie ,1,2and 3...(only joking!) Any american foodie ideas appreciated! Felling good this indepedence day, independence day for me too, free from the wreached booze, be well all my july 1st group friends and happy independance day....

Hello all!!

Just checking in on day 5 wooo eeee feeling mucho greato today! Just back from a 7 mile run and boy was it tough-but worth it. Heading off to a wedding now, my first sober occasion in a looonng looong time! Wish me luck!

Gosh, I love you guys! So glad I found you. Can't believe how close I feel to all of you in such a short time! Sooooo appreciate the support and words of encouragement! We do all have something to celebrate today in the way of independence, don't we? In a way it is as if we have the same very close camaraderie that you hear of about out troops. We are all in this war towards freedom together.....AND WE WILL WIN!!!! Obviously, from the way we are in this together we are going to make a pretty formidable opponent to this enemy that has tried to destroy us. Happy Independence Day to all regardless of where you live.

I am thinking that independence day is for our whole July 1 group.......every day is now independence day. Today the idea of freedom for me is so much more poignant and I am so thankful to each one of you that are in the foxhole with me.

I just had a thought ....in those useless hours we spend sleeping of a night....
It went like this.....How about we make a pact that even if we DO fall off the wagon, we won't slink off and isolate ourselves. It's not as if any of us are going to judge the other.....I'm just thinking that being honest and transparent about the thing might be a step in the right direction. After all hiding our problem (or THINKING it was hidden ) is part of the reason things went pear shaped.And scuttling of in shame is NOT going to get this job done.I'm not saying a full written confession must be had .... but just don't run away....clear as mud ??

My visitors go home tomorrow and I really feel the need for some decent AF time.
I usually have a bottle of fizz to go with watching the Grand Prix, but I have no issues going without today, will dust off my 'special' glass and fill it with fizzy water instead.

Hi All.

Sounds like you lot are kicking Als butt!

Yesterday was a bit of a shocker for me. Finally got rid of migraine in arvo then had to go out for my first function with al. Pleased to say I got through with flying colors. I felt quite strong saying no, watching everyone else get pissed. Talk about a complete role reversal.

- Nics. 7 mile run. My God! I've got some work to do. Got on the scales yesterday. OMG. 5kg worse than expected!!!!!! 300grams lighter than my heaviest weight ever.

- New Creation. Hope all is going well for you now. We are all here for you.

Welcome Betty! This is such a great group. Bridge, I can't tell you how much I agree with your idea of our having a pact. We will always be there for each other. After I felt so bad about the other night at my stepdaughter's b/d, I could not believe how a group of "strangers" could make me feel so much better! Hearing from all of you the next morning gave me so much encouragement and hope. I have to report that the very next night we had out of town company and everyone drank but me.....still had fun. Then the real test was tonight; went to a July 4 party with all of our dear friends. I didn't have a drop! Still had fun and now I am so excited that I am going to feel so much better tomorrow. Truly, friends (no longer strangers), I don't think I could feel this strong without your understanding and your support. What an amazing thing this internet is! I am blessed.

I'm enjoying the San Francisco fireworks tonight with a glass of sparkly water and lemon. It's funny, nearly every July 4th is cloudy here, so the fireworks look like, "red cloud, blue cloud..." I'm thankful my dog isn't phased by the noise. He's contentedly licking his crotch.
