Wow, Ronners -- how different that experience could have been for you --just imagine! I hope you were just a little bit smarmy when the test came off clean. 'So happy to hear you're doing well and enjoying everything these days. You deserve it!

July 1 group. How is everyone?

Sunday morning here and I was up by 7 a.m. Now THAT's a change. Usually I sleep until l9, having had a few too many wines the night before and needing the sleep. Not really needing the sleep but oh, so exhausted. Got up and fixed the venetian blinds that have been bugging me for over a year. Ahhhhh, productivity! Then got right on here so I could set the right tone for the day!

Lilbit, I come to SF several times a year. Maybe at some time in the future we can connect. It is far from cool and windy down here in So Cal. In fact, blazing hot and sunny. One of the reasons I love to come to SF in summer is the dramatic change in the weather! Enjoy the day!

Good thoughts to all for a lovely Sunday!

July 1 group. How is everyone?

              Morning gang

DAY 13 - WOOOO HOOOOO !!! The weather here in the Emerald Isle has been depression central for the whole weekend. Torrential rain, wind and general gloominess. My lovingly tended flower beds have all been destroyed in the storm Sat night, grrrrr So much for summer?!?

Stayed alcohol free the whole weekend, was realitivly easy as the weather and monetry situation didn't lend to going out any how. On the up side we booked out summer holidays to Croatia. So, something to look forward to We have visiters from Oz staying with us next weekend - so that will be a challange, not working my self up though. One day at a time, I'll deal with it as and when.

Hope everyone is keeping well and had a lovely weekend, well done Brett on joining the gym. I started a marathon training programme 3 weeks ago and am starting to see and feel the difference. Feels great doing something positive

Any way Happy Monday all and heres to a good week

July 1 group. How is everyone?

                  HI All,
Had a great and highly productive day 13......so productive in fact, that come 5pm I got the most intense cravings for a 'reward', that I have had for the previous 12 days combined. I've just gobbled a huge dinner and thrown a truckload of L-glut down my neck.
Having a gardening day may well be a trigger I think.....nothing like half a bottle of Vodka to top off your pruning and planting.
                  Anyway, roll on day 14...

                    Hiya!

Just a quick check in but hope to post more later.Glad everyone is ok. Went out for lunch yesterday and met my ex-lodger from about 5 years back. He knew I struggled with drink but I was sober and able to have a good chat with him. One of the benefits!

July 1 group. How is everyone?

Wow. What a difference a few days makes.

Today was the best I have felt since the last time I gave up the booze. Didn't get much sleep due to my wonderful kids but felt great after the first coffee. Thank God for caffeine!

My energy was so consistent throughout the day. It was so great to not be falling asleep mid afternoon. Obviously my body was looking for some serious exercise. I sweat my %$#& off at the gym. Must be sweating some of those nasty toxins out.

Becky - Isn't it great to really be able to have a good chat with people and really listen to them. This is one thing I am really enjoying as well. Thanks again for all your support. :thanks:

Bridge - I know what you mean about the gardening thing. Used to love a coldie afterwards. I'm actually really enjoying water. No seriously I am. How sad is that. Shit, I might even get fit.:H Stay strong! 2 weeks tomorrow!

Ronnie - Hey Ronnie. Sounds like you are doing just fine. Don't ya just love paperwork? Not. I finished doing my paperwork for tax time tonight. Not my favorite past time that's for sure! It sure is a good feeling getting pulled over by the cops and knowing you are 100% AF. :goodjob: Congrats on the 1000+ posts!

Nics - Sorry to hear about your garden.:upset: Good luck with the Aussies. You'll need it. I never drank so much in my life as when I was in England and Ireland. You'll be fine I'm sure. Just use the marathon as an excuse if you have to. Great work on that by the way. I used to road race bikes many years ago and do 1000 odd klms per week, but I struggle with the thought of running a marathon.

Lilbit, New creation prancy & Betty. Hope you all on top of the world.

                      Sorry if I've missed anyone.

                      Have a damn good night/day.

                      Brett.

July 1 group. How is everyone?

                        Hi all,
Brett, so glad to hear that you are doing so much better. It's crazy how we've got all these common threads going in this group.....love of gardening, love of drinking after gardening, exercise (and obviously need of it), marathons (I am training for the January half-marathon...I only walk, hate to run), 20 something year old kids, etc. A great group; great camaraderie; perhaps the start of something really big here. Prancy, hope you are getting alot accomplished w/o your husband this week. I actually love it when mine goes out of town, not nearly enough, as I seem to get so much more done. Hope he is tremendously successful on his trip. What fun and how beautiful Alaska must be in the summer! Have a great week everyone....we are getting stronger and stronger, better and better and , I think, happier and happier.

                          Two Weeks Already!

A big congratulations to all. :goodjob:

Two weeks already for some of us. As you know it's been a bit of a roller coaster ride for me but it appears that I'm finally through the worst of it.

                          - New Creation. You only walk! You lazy $#%^&! :H I'd be going to walk 10km these days. That will change though.

I've been compiling a list of things that I've noticed that have improved over the last 2 weeks.
                          Here it is.

                          - I've lost about 3.5kg
                          - I look about 5 years younger
                          - My skin is getting better by the day
                          - Better able to cope with the stresses of life
                          - Stopped taking medicine for acid reflux
                          - Reduced pain. Very few painkillers used.
                          - I'm happier
                          - I'm less moody/grumpy
                          - Much more tolerant with my wife and kids
                          - Heaps more energy
                          - Grateful
                          - Calmer
                          - Clearer head
                          - More motivated
                          - Less reflux/heartburn
                          - Saving heaps (approx $200+ a week - includes my wife as well)
                          - More positive outlook on life
                          - Less aches and pains

Not bad for 2 weeks if you ask me.

Hope everyone is feeling as good as me.

                          Brett.

Thanks New on the good thoughts about getting a lot done. Actually I am working on my taxes for which we got an extension and I cannot for the life of me find the first 6 months of the year. I know I must have had some bright idea where to put the stuff but cannot remember. Typical. Anyway, I have papers everywhere! But I am focused mentally and that is a blessing. At least I can remember what I did last night! Very hot here and headed for pilates. All, take care.

Oh Brett, your making fun of me walking just makes me want to have a drink Hey, I'm old....well not that old, actually feeling younger by the day without the booze. Thanks for the list of "improvements". Made a copy of it. Great motivation to keep it up!

Prancy, bet with your unfoggy brain it will come to you where you left those papers. And it does feel like everything is a blessing these days, doesn't it.

                              Love to you all,

                                14 DAYSYAY us......
Well thankfully I decided to take me and my 16 personalities to bed early last night, and awoke with a mental clean slate.
It's clear to me this morning that I will have to develop another reward ritual to put in place after a busy, productive day, especially in the house and garden.
The other mistake I made late yesterday was replacing booze cravings with chocolate and sugary treats, thereby throwing myself headlong into some sort of bipolar blood sugar level experience................WRONG................... ...as soon as you 'come down' the hooch cravings come back......not a good strategy.
                                Right.....so now I know ....
Back to happy Bridget this morning , so no harm done.
                                Well done gang.
I am SO proud of us.
