I have a question about the All One

Hi...I'm new here and have a question about the All One powder. Is that considered a meal in itself? And as I understand you take these vitamins(magnesium, milk thistle B's, and evening primrose oil and kudzu) she described mid-morning....is that with a meal? I guess I get concerned about stomach upset as I take medication for acid-reflux. Any information you could give me would be appreciated....:thanks:

I have a question about the All One

    Hi Sunny:

I do not take it myself, but I do not believe it is considered a meal replacement...it is just a supplement in a powder format. I have heard that people add it either to juice or to protein shakes to take the stuff, but the powder itself just has the vitamins and amino acids, no protein of its own to make it high in calories or anything.

As far as the other supplements, she actually recommends that you space them out during the day, not all in one big lump...here is the updated schedule on all the other stuff...

And BIG congrats on your 5 months too! :goodjob:

I have a question about the All One

thank you so much I printed it out....I just put my powder in almond milk....guess I need some protein powder and I ate something before I took the vitamins...oh well I'll get this right eventually. Does anyone know if you can take niacin added to my vitamins or would that be too much since it is already in the "All One Powder"? I take it for lowering my cholesterol.

I have a question about the All One

Hi Sunny! I really like the All One even though it can be a buggar to make it palatable - especially since it doesn't really disolve all that well. Mixed with about 6 oz of tomato juice is the way I like it best.

As Scrubbly suggested, I do sometimes mix it into a "smoothie" concoction with protein powder, fruit, almond milk (love that stuff!) etc. I'm on thyroid meds so I have to time it away from that due to the calcium. It can be a downright impossible puzzle figuring out timing for all this stuff!

That is interesting about niacin / cholesterol. I do a Far Infrared Sauna for detox every day, and I take niacin before hand as it tends to open things up at the cell level (supposedly!) to make it easier for toxins to be released from the body. I follow the protocol of Dr. Sherry Rogers (Detoxify or Die) and she says you can take up to 1,000 mg for that particular purpose. So I doubt you would be getting "too much" with the All One and your other supplement. It's good to check though. And I'm no doctor so take my program with a grain of salt!

I would be careful about the niacin dosage. I suggest you research it before taking large amounts. I heard the "no-flush" niacin is harmful to the liver (a special concern for this particular support group!), and my experience with the regular niacin is that 100mg makes my skin burn and I look like a lobster for about a half-hour.

I have a question about the All One

Hi there Beatle! Hope life is treating your well. I always appreciate your input on these matters. I'm actually NOT using the no flush. The flush is actually the whole point for purposes of the detox. The recommendation was to start with 50 mg and ONLY increase dose by 50 mg as the flushing stops. So the high end (with a recommended max of 1,000 mg) depends on the individual and the flushing. Does any of that make a difference in terms of your concern? I take that seriously!! If you still have concerns and can point me in a good direction for more reading, I would really appreciate that. There are so many different opinions out there it's hard to figure out what to do at the end of the day.

I have a question about the All One

Hi DG and sunny! I am so uninformed about niacin, I dare not say anything other than what I have heard (no-flush hurts the liver) and my own experience (once at 100mg was enough!). But it sounds reasonable to start slowly (as with anything else), and work your way to the level that suits you personally. I also heard the "flush" is a good sign (capillaries expanding or some such thing), so even though uncomfortable, I doubt it is dangerous in higher doses, as you pointed out. In fact, I think it is time for me to do more research on this... I'm probably missing out on something major here.

I have a question about the All One

I take the flushing kind...the kind that makes me the lobster. I have been taking it awhile because my doctor wanted to higher my dose of cholesterol or take this with the pill I'm currently on to see if this brings it down. I sure do appreciate all the input of you all...thank you so much.

I have a question about the All One

LOL - now you guys have me curious to go back to the book I referenced and read the details again. Sunny she also talked about cholesterol in this book so there must be some connection somewhere to what your doctor is having you do. I find all this stuff facinating but do not have the brain power to keep track of all the details. I just know I take it before the sauna. Then there is some other stuff for after the sauna to help boost the body's natural detox systems.

This it a bit OT for the thread but this Dr. mentioned something I found interesting in this book. She talked about addicts and the difficulties they face as addictive substances such as cocaine, heroin, alcohol and others leave behind residues in our tissues that increase cravings for quite a long time after one stops using. She says that a good detox program (designed to flush all the garbage out of our organs and fatty tissue - not just getting past withdrawl symptoms) is very helpful in addiction recovery.

Now if I drop dead this week then you will all know that all this coin spent on supplements was a total waste.

DG.... what was the name of the book you are referring to....I love to read about stuff like that. I think taking the niacin and the hot tub might add to the flushing...never thought of that. Would that mean that we wouldn't have the addiction if we got it out of all our organs and fatty tissues....I don't know for me I have to many mental issues as well....lol.

I have a question about the All One

Sunnydaz, I take the all one almost daily. Mix it in soy milk. It isn't that bad at all for me. Interesting, but as far as the acid reflux goes, I used to take meds, but seems I don't have it anymore since I gave up AL. Go figure.....another positive!

I don't think there is any "magic" that makes the addiction completely go away. My impression is that she is suggesting that cravings and urges for the addictive substances are made worse if there are stores of the residual "stuff" (see how scientific I am???? ) in our tissues, and better if we get rid of it.

The book is "Detoxify or Die" by Dr. Sherry Rogers. Amazon sells some of her books but not all of them. So you may have to google it and buy it through her publisher. I think it was about $29 or something when I bought it that way.

I was shocked by her writing style especially since she is a doctor. She definitely is writing to the "lay person" - typos and all LOL. She also gets REALLY dramatic in her communication style. But once I got past that initial shocker, I obviously appreciated the content as I am following several aspects of her detox program.

I recently picked up Jillian Michaels' newest book which is about metabolism. (She is one of the PT's on The Biggest Loser) This book was recommended to me. I thought "ho hum - another Hollywood person cashing in on a "diet" book." I'm actually impressed as it seems she has done her homework with an endocrinologist and she knows her toxins and hormones. I'm not done with it yet but may buy it for reference. It's complimentary on several levels to the Dr. Rogers book. A little different take on solutions but definite agreement on the problems.

I also like "Ageless" by Suzanne Summers which is where I got my start on all this stuff.

Gotta run but hope that answers your question!
