Witchy, Devilish Hours
Hey.... I did good last night! I had ONE glass of wine around nine... nursed it for an hour. It was a big glass of wine, but HEY! I took it to bed with me and was reading, and woke up this morning to find that I never finished it. I love it when that happens! So today, I dont have as much to do since my HOUSE IS SO CLEAN...:H So I am going to head down to the beach for an hour or so and get my exercise in there instead of the gym today and enjoy the weather before good ole' tropical storm/ hurricane whoever hits. Actually it is downgraded to tropical storm and we are only supposed to get rain and high winds starting late this afternoon.
My husband called and asked if we had all the necessary supplies in the event we lost power for a few days and I felt a rush of panic. Not for fear of not having food for my children or flashlights, but I was worried I might not have wine! :egad: Scary how those old mindsets react to what we think is most important!
Good luck to everyone again this evening!

Books
Hi Janet, If I may recommend a couple. Have you read Dry by Augusten Burroughs? One of my favorites that made me and everyone else I know who has read it laugh out loud. Very funny especially if you are familiar with drinking. The other book I recently reread that perhaps you have already read that made me laugh is The Nanny Diaries. It is a few years old but really entertaining, I thought. Hope those are two good ideas for you.I'm really easy to get along with once people learn to worship me

4:00 - 8:00
I was doing great. Took My black lab to the ocean for a swim after work. It was my first day back at school and we sat through 5 hours of mind numbing meetings. I made it until 7:00 and then I had 2 glasses of chardonnay. Still better than a whole entire bottle though! So I guess I have to celebrate the small success. Didn't do abstinence, which I'd aimed for but I got the moderation which is my ultimate goal. Still, I do want to try for abstinence during the school week. My goal for this program is - no wine during the week and then 2 glasses Friday night and 2 glasses Saturday night. I'll get there! I'll keep forging on. Em

Witchy, Devilish Hours
I made it through the first night and the witch develish hours. I work full time however my day ends at 12:30pm when I go home to relieve my mother from watching the kids and take over. So my witchin hours came a little earlier than most. I was happy if I could hold off until 4 for the first drink. Yesterday I went home and took the kids out instead of hanging around the house looking at all the stuff I needed to do. My husband got home early, he's not a drinker at all, so that made it easier not to have one. I feel better today knowing that I didn't sneak a drink. Gotta catch up on the laundry today though. How do 3 kids go through so many clothes??"Keep your eyes and heart focused on the end goal at all times, and never settle for less."

I dont know how 3 kids go through so many clothes either.... but I promise you there will come a day when they will be old enough to start doing their own laundry! I used to think they would NEVER grow up! Now I cry because they ruin my nice stuff by throwing it in the wash with their red clothes! LOL! (which makes me want to drink...) So its always something...
You are doing awesome! Can you get on chat at night? We have a lot of fun and it kills time too! What happens in Vegas goes straight to Ohio....

Tough for me to chat until afternoon or evening b/c I work and they don't appreciate a lot of time spent on the internet. Had fun chatting last night though."Keep your eyes and heart focused on the end goal at all times, and never settle for less."

As summer comes to close I'm having a hard time as many women friends want to get together at the "witching hour" for some wine. Of course I try not to be anti-social so I find myself drinking right along with them. I'm going to have to avoid the whole situation or I'll never be able to abstain. It's so hard as you need the support of your female friends but don't want to drink.A friend called last night and of course I caved right in and had 3 glasses of wine. Maybe I can suggest Starbucks in the middle of the day.....but like us my friends have a "witching hour" as well. I guess there are many of us in the same boat.
Angel/Janet, I also read Dry by Augusten Bourroughs and enjoyed it. I have found the series of books starting with "The Number One Ladies Detective Agency" by Alexander McCall Smith wonderful to read especially when not drinking. The names of the books are unusual and they are really not detective books but very amusing and soothing to the soul. I have recommended them to many friends and have always had positive reaction. These books actually make you want to drink tea (and I hate tea). Let me know what you think if you read them(or if anyone elso has read them)
Well I'm off to bed soon. Hopefully your witching hours pass uneventfully.
Janet
