My BIL's nickname was Double D, because of his initials. It's sad his daughters had to configure his funeral arrangements around keeping some of his cohorts AWAY, and watching the pennies they would have to spend. And no, there was not a time in their lives when it was different. He alwas put drink and the bar first, so their dedication to him now is still a tribute to what good people they are. One month's bar tab would have paid for everything now, but it never happened. Not a good legacy for those beautiful girls, and certainly something for others to think about if they're serious enough to come here wanting a change.

what is baclofin. I have started drinking again after being good for a year. I need help getting back on the wagon. Is this a new drug.

I did the program before with topamax and it worked. I did have doctors support but present circmstances put me back to drinking. Now I have to start over and do the program again. I have the book, did the tapes and took all the supps.

If you go to the top bar on this site and click on search then type in Baclofen...you will find TONS of info on many different threads from many different people experience with this med.

I also think that reading the book "End Of My Addiction" by Dr Ameisen is a good idea ...it's the so called" BAC Bible" and since He is a DR. and I am not, better to read it from him.

Its not a new drug, Meggie. I don't know anything about it since I've never used it, but many have had good results. I hope you'll get some better answers, but Topomax has been my life saver. Try to find a physician who is willing to help, thats ALWAYS the best way to go. Find a professional who is willing to help you. As far as support, we're here.

I started my recovery with with the MWO program ....just as you did and found that Baclofen added to the mix was the key to turning the off switch to my cravings !!

Bac isn't new BUT new to being used as an anti craving med.quite new indeed.
I bet ya that it will be the answer 1000s have been searching for.I was for me.

Once the cravings are under control then with the support from other people in recovery..the healing can truly begin !!!
