    What helps withdraw symptoms?

I have been having some symptoms I had thought were caused by other things. Stress of sending my son to another state (that's when they started, I'm lost without him) stress from work, the weather, its been hot here. But now I am wondering if its AL related. I'm still drinking but ALOT less. Sometimes more than I should. But all in all I was doing better. I wonder if my body is craving it more or what?
    My symptoms are
    light headedness
    mild nausea
    anxiety
    loss of appetite
    Scattered thoughts

    Any suggestions?
:flower: I'm not as good as I'm gonna get, but I'm better than I used to be.

AK hon, so glad you are still in this fight. Ok, here's what you need:

Magnesium. 250 mg 2X per day
      Vit B1 (thiamine) 200mg 3X per day.
Vit C at least 500mg 2x per day (more if you are already accustomed to large doses)
L Glutamine 1 rounded teaspoon 3X per day mixed in water or juice.

and eat foods with potassium (bananas etc) and stay away from simple processed sugars.

and come chat tonight hon xxxxxxx keep up the good work!

        What helps withdraw symptoms?

I had a good bit of withdrawal symptoms when I was tapering down. Even though I was still drinking, my body definitely felt the effects of the lesser amount. (The withdrawal "flu".) I had similar symptoms as you're having. In addition to the above good advice re. the supplements, I also found going for a quick walk helped. I'd read that a bit of exercise helps, so I tried it, and sure enough it did. Must be the heart pumping faster, the blood flow, the adrenalin? I don't know, but it helped .. especially with the shakey feeling, and with the anxiety. Oh, and I drank a good bit of water.

        Hope you're feeling better soon.

          Hi Deebee and thanks :l
Det, I will get the supps I am missing and hope to see you in chat.
42cat, you are so right. I do better when I am moving around, unfortunately my job is to program on a computer. I'm feeling so anxious and can't keep my thought straight. Wish the nausea would go away.

          Thanks everyone

              What helps withdraw symptoms?

              Hello and welcome!
I suffered from a great deal of nausea when I was drinking. The nausea went way completely after I stopped. In fact, it was a main reason for me to quit - I could not stand it any more.
I took ginger for nausea, and it did help. Also, cabbage juice helps tremendously in any gastric distress.
You will start feeling better soon. It is the lingering effect of alcohol, nothing else...

Hello The New Me and thank you for the welcome but I've been here awhile. And been struggling awhile. And just plain gave up for awhile. But with these new symptoms I am more determined than ever......and scared. Wonder how much damage I have done. I made an appointment for a physical and I am scared to death to get the results. :upset:

                  Akgirl,
Ooops, you should be welcoming me!
I also am scared of physical. Last time my sugar was very high - no wonder, I went for a blood test after two bottles of wine the night before. I am not diabetic, I was hungover.. Haven't been since then, but I will go soon just to make sure my sugar is back to normal.
                  Good luck on your tests!

AK, I've missed you. So hard to talk when we're so far away. Is it really hot there? (Remember I'm in GA) LOL Do you feel like a really bad hangover? Try treating each symptom. The l-glut is good, but lots and lots and lots of water, with lemon. Beside the physical feelings, their are lots of mental things to deal with, and everything is magnified when we're worried. At the worst, go to your physician and just tell them your having anxiety attacks, or to a health store and tell them the same, because it really is. I don't like to give med advice, everyone is so diff, and no one here is qualified to do that, but you are SO in my thoughts. Please take care and come back to tell us how you are, OK?

Thank you all for your posts.

It's not at all like a hangover, I have had one of those in a long time. But not for lack of drinking, just don't get them. Kind of wish I did sometimes, it might deter me.

I've always been high functioning but right now I am struggling to do my job and keep a house. My son is out of town, thats when this all started. I had huge anxiety attacks about him leaving. I feel like I could cry at the drop of a hat. I'm so light headed and have trouble staying on task. Not good in my position since I run the place. I have no appetite but am trying to force myself to eat. I have never had anxiety like this and it's scaring me. I actually drove myself to a urgent care center on Sat.....even got out of my truck.....only to turn around and go home and hibernate all sunday. Gosh, I hope this gets over soon.

                        Thanks again everyone

AK, here for you. I don't exactly know what to tell you that will help right now but a hug from your boy. He'll be back soon, but then lets think about what to do the next time you have a crisis. If it gets bad enough to DRIVE to the ER, go in. You won't feel stupid. They can help you. You MIGHT find the answer there. I hope so, so much for your sake. I'm thinking of you honey.

                              What helps withdraw symptoms?

Feeling a bit better. I'm realizing alot of this is stress, pure and simple. I have just been focusing on one project at a time instead of looking at my workload as a whole. I always tell my son when he gets overwhelmed "How do you eat an elephant?" One bite at a time. So I'm taking baby bites of my elephant and it seems to be helping.

Thanks again, I miss my MWO family and will have to come more often.
