I know what U mean Cymers, In Aus it's almost free. But so is nailpolish remover. (90% of people can drink with impunity. I can't and that's my bad luck). The real bastards are those who profit off the sale of tobacco. Governments anyone? For those who can handle it booze is OK. But tobacco has no redeeming features beyond revenue and influence. (i'm a mild smoker. Ban it and I'll tear up toilet paper for a week)

Oh thats great Bridge. You are on day 23 now? Superb....
I am feeling lots better thanks. I have been back on prozac for nearly a month now. And if I am anything like last time it took about 12 weeks to get full effect. But I am definitely more stable and happier right now. I spoke to a nurse who said that it can take years for your own seratonin levels to rise and that I should look to staying on it long term. That suits me, I dont want to feel like I did again.

A tragic story Oney. That's why I feel my youthwork is important. Drinking and becoming alcoholic at a young age puts a higher strain on the liver as the liver hasn't even finished growing... the boy started drinking at 13, and by 16 needed half a bottle of vodka to get out of bed. In the end he was drinking 3 bottles a day plus cans of special brew. I'd have been dead at 22 - well probably earlier being a woman.

Also I believe they do liver transplants for alcoholics in the UK, but they have to have at least 6 months no alcohol and confidence in the fact that person will not drink again before a decision can be made (if they live that long).

I watched a programme about an AA member who was fortunate to have a liver transplant, said to drink again would be disrespectful to the person whom the donor came from. He has devoted his life to youth work - think he does boating weekends with teens who have alcohol issues.

There aren't any. I'm too lazy to play with photobucket. I swear I go out under my neighbor's fig tree with a plant hook to pull down higher branches and I eat figs until I waddle back to the house.
