Another resource - Women for Sobriety

I thought I would post this thread as another resource for women looking for face to face support. They don't post the meetings on the Net, rather one has to call PA to find a location. It's Women for Sobriety and has been around for a couple of decades. They also have chat and a message board.

The thirteen statements of the Women For Sobriety New Life Program:

    1. I have a life threatening problem that once had me
I now take charge of my life, I accept the responsibility

    2. Negative thoughts destroy only myself
My first conscious act must be to remove negativity from my life

    3. Happiness is a habit I will develop
Happiness is created, not waited for

    4. Problems bother me only to the degree I permit them to
I now better understand my problems and do not permit problems to overwhelm me.

    5. I am what I think
I am a capable, competent, caring, compassionate woman

    6. Life can be ordinary or it can be great
Greatness is mine by a conscious effort

    7. Love can change the course of my world
    Caring becomes all important

    8. The fundamental object of life is emotional and spiritual growth
Daily I put my life in proper order, knowing which are the priorities

    9. The past is gone forever
No longer will I be victimized by the past, I am a new person

    10. All love given returns
I will learn to know that others love me

    11. Enthusiasm is my daily exercise
I treasure all moments of my new life

    12. I am a competent woman and have much to give life
This is what I am and I shall know it always

    13. I am responsible for myself and my actions
I am in charge of my mind, my thoughts, and my life

Sorry guys! This is a program for women, but the statements can be used by all!

Thanks Charge. I can defiantly use this.
I quit drinking on March 8, 2020. Taking it One Day At A Time and no more taking my quit for granted.

Also doing it for me. I got to stay sober for me.

Just consecrate on today and do what you can to remain sober for today and worry about staying sober tomorrow, tomorrow.

You are most welcome all. I almost didn't make it there (to the one WFS meeting in this city) this a.m. but I did! It was great. We started off with the statements (above), then went around and shared our positive strokes for the week (IOW, one thing we did good this week that we're proud of, an accomplishment, or what we did differently because we were not drinking), then discussed boundaries a bit (how not to take on other people's stuff and to just work on our own lives), then took a break, then finished off by more conversation and then reading our rights (i.e. I have a right to ask for what I want, I have a right to change my mind, I have a right to my feelings, etc). All in all, it was a very positive experience.

            Hi Changed.
I read a great book by the founder, that this was in, and still have it stuck up on my wall. Applied it to me, a male, and found (find) it very helpful in those earlier days of sobriety. Great thread!

Oh my gosh! This is so cool! I am so happy to see men included (separately, of course, at their own meetings ). Good deal!
