    Hi, new here

Ive been a pretty heavy drinker for a while now. A few months ago I had a seizure at work and wound up in the ER. It was diaganosed as alcohol withdrawal. I was given meds and some advice and I quit for a while. A couple weeks later I found I was right back where I was before. I dont want to quit drinking altogether, but at my worst I could go through a 5th a day no problem. Im new here so hello everyone.

        Hi, new here

Hi. Nice to meet you. I was a 5th a day drinker as well, mostly in secret, morning to night - even at work. In early June, I tapered down and quit hard liquor (switching to beer to help me taper) ... It wasn't fun, but if I climbed out, I know you can too.

You're in the right place. So much understanding and support here... and lots of experience ... tons of things to learn about, things to try, etc.

Read around the forums .. read all you can .. and post often ... Being part of the boards really helped me stay focussed on my plan, and I learned so much. Think about the kind of life you want, and begin a plan to get there. You can do this.

Looking forward to seeing you on the boards!

P.s.... As you have already found out, withdrawals can be nasty, even deadly. Listen to your body and take care. That's why I decided to taper down (although I think I may have done it a little too quickly for the amount I was drinking). If you'd like to read how it went for me, I posted a thread at the time. It's here: https://www.mywayout.org/community/f9...ggy-34156.html
AF for two years. Slight relapse. Working on it at the moment.
