A swimming poem for all us poolaholics.

Undressing with so many near
The changing room has held no fear
The walk through water filled with germs
A floating hair, her big toe squirms
But boldly on she steps on out
Onto the poolside then looks about

The sight before her makes her shrink
Back from the edge, she stops to think
The ageing masses have descended
Their bodies flabby or distended
She's turned up again for the wrong session
A day when "oldies" get a concession

But undeterred she jumps on in
The water comes up to her chin
Quite close to her is an old fellow
She watches for a trace of yellow
And swims away as he starts straining
And underwater it starts raining

Then her worse fear, she spies a floater
Away from it she starts to motor
But her swimming's not strong enough
She's followed by the floating stuff
As it brushes her trailing limb
She decides to abandon her weekly swim

So jumping out onto the tiles
Today she will not swim her miles
She planned to do when she arrived
And so she now feels so deprived
She's paid her money for one full hour
But minutes in she hits the shower
