I started out doing law. Then went to do my articles for 2 years - hated it, hated it, hated it.

Then I did international studies, and starting working at the company I'm with now. Moving into IT came as a result of the subject of my thesis - tourism and the effect the Internet was going to have on it. I'm not in a technical IT role - more conceptual.

That's why I opted for tapering - too shit-scared to face that on my own without medical supervision.

I didnt really have witdrawals as such being a binge rather than a daily drinker as you basically have mini withdrawals after each binge. The bit I hated the most was the constant waking up on the night after with a fright like your heart had just jumped out of your chest and being covered in sweat. Then the next day the anxiety and sense of doom that was bad too.. Didnt stop me though for a long time.
You are doing well Zeppie and sound so determined.

I learned yesterday that even a relatively low (or what I would consider low) level of drinking should be supervised during withdrawal.

I remember when the DT's hit me the first time - I was trying to go to the greyhound track 4 hours from home. I pulled off the road and went into a shop and just stood there for ages - I thought I was going to die (like really die) I went back to the car and made sure all the dishies had water in their trailer just incase I did die. My father had to drive two hours to come and pick me and the dogs up and take us to the track.

Did an LLB, and the articles were two years in a general practice. I'm not the kind of person who likes to specialise in a particular field - I'd get bored. But I could only handle so many divorces, sequestrations and other people's problems. It is a truly negative profession.

Nope thank goodness, that was just going out and something else was being brought in (cannot remember now what it was) but because of my role I would probably have been more suited to a PM qual like Prince 2.

The one experience I'll NEVER forget was my 1st full-blown panic attack, when I thought I was having a heart attack and also thought I was going to die. I was home alone that day. Feels like yesterday...
