People who don't understand that I HAVE improved

Hi Changed1-Glad to hear that you're on top of it! I know how difficult it is being constantly nagged about every little thing. I guess some people just don't get that you heard them the first time. They seem to think if they say it, you're just gonna jump, or jump higher or whatever! I hope you find some "in person" friends (and you will!), meanwhile keep coming here.
You might want to consider taking some kind of class or something. A lot of people do this just to get out and socialize a little. I got back into riding (one of favorite childhood interests) 16 years ago and now know more people than I have in my whole life, and a couple of them are now very close friends (they don't judge me either; we can disagree, but still love and respect one another).

As far as taking things personally- some of us sensitive souls are also very self critical, and sometimes (or nearly always) expect everyone else to judge us as harshly as we do ourselves. Sometimes it's about them more than us.

Any exercise is good, even a stroll around the block. Just think about the look your dog gives you when you pick up the leash! Who can resist that? I know my cats always do the "why are you so down, woman, when you got me rolling around and looking so cute?", which usually gives me pause (paws?) to at least laugh and relax a little.

I haven't gotten the hypnosis CDs yet,but plan on it. I have done hypnosis before for other issues, and it's really, really relaxing, and the effect lasts awhile too. You might want to try those. I also have never had much success trying to meditate, but great success with hypnosis (I guess it's a different thing).

Anyway, keep up the good work. Every small step counts!

    MUCH LOVE!!!

You went from 10 to 4? Really?
      Well, I think that's great.
If I had to cut down by half I'd ...... well, I don't want to think about it yet.

Congratulations for what you HAVE achieved. If we all listed what we hadn't done then it'd be a mighty long list. 4 bottles a week is surely almost within safe limits for a woman? Getting there anyway. Your goal is not to give up completely? Be proud.

Thanks, Derek. The idea is to be at none though. My BF went so far as to give me this ring I'd wanted last night and told me it's a magic ring and if I drink things will go south for me. Not sure if he was referring to some voodoo type stuff or his exit from my life.

I used to drink at least one bottle of wine per day so probably my intake was more like 12 or 13 bottles a week. Each time I've had a weak moment it hasn't been more than one bottle at a time. In fact, I cooked with wine yesterday and did not take one sip. I did not really think about it much.

It helps to have someone here who knows if I have one drink (he can tell after ONE drink), calls whenever and if I don't answer he could even pop over. So it's added incentive not to go there.

As to you, you'll get there eventually. I think eliminating or cutting down is a process and not something that someone just wakes up one day and says...ok, never again. At least that sure has not been my experience. You hang in there!
