    Army Thread 26/8/09

    You make me laugh GG!!
Pops is hopefully being moved to the general ward as we speak. And then he can turn his cell phone on so I can at least speak to him.
I feel terrible because he doesn't know yet and was expecting me during visiting hours.
He's bored out of his mind and is desperate for visitors.

I've tried to call but his phone is off.
          Oh well.
I must stop stressing over things I have no control.

          What's the news in squirrel-land?

My sister couldn't get her script of TamilFlu filled yesterday because they had run out -- someone is making big bucks for this!

Squirrel is exhausted through her night time wanderings.
But had a great but exhausting day at work.
I cannot believe the level of dependence that some of these people have. 2 men I spoke to today cannot tolerate any liquid other than alcohol in the morning. It makes them vomit.
It is so incredibly sad how far down this can take us....

Someone always does, Deebs. Don't get me started on the pharmaceutical BS... you'll never shut me up!

I'm in the same boat.. can't call my mom and my dad only has intermittent cell phone service - so communications aren't great here, either. I hope your dad keeps improving - thinking of you :l

                  Oh wow Starts.
It must be a real eye-opener.
I don't know if I could to it TBH -- I would just feel so terrible for them.

And tell me now, have they come there looking for help?

                    Wow, that's just horrible, starty!
So, what would be a course of action for someone that far gone?

I am not too sure Deebs, they have been through rehab in the past..but slipped back again. I guess they must be there for help but also as a place to go where they are not judged or pressurised into accepting help if they dont want it....
They are such nice people too, we do have a great laugh sometimes. But their lives must be pretty intolerable. The purpose of the drop in is to give people the opportunity to access help if they want it. But if they dont and they just want some company, thats fine too.

Big hugs to both of you...

Yeah, my mom is out of ICU, Deebs... but she can't really handle a cell phone right now (long story, just had surgery 2 months ago - vertebrae).. she still had little use of her left hand and almost none of her right

That sounds awful!! And extremely painful!
I'm so sorry GG. It must be difficult for you.
What are the nurses like? Can you phone them for an update or to pass on a message?
I must say the nurses here have been unbelievable! We've been very fortunate.
