Waves. I really reckon you start with 30 day's af. It is a very interesting experience. I think you will find it useful, and valuable. You will just have to do it to find out. You will begin to think more clearly too. 30 day's is very different to 7 days or 2 weeks, in my opinion. Ideally, i would love to see you go 1 year af. But not in depravation mode, but actually cherishing, and enjoying the experience.

Would love to do say 6 months AF, think it would really turn my head around (I'm in a shit rut at the moment)
I live alone and get bored, AL is an easy answer...What you perceive is what you believe, so make sure you look at things the right way....

Hey Guitar,
Interesting reading,
I manage 2 - 3 weeks AF at a time, then drift into moderation because Australia produces some damned fine wines!!! Then go AF again.
So, what are the essential differences going for the longer haul? More alert? Better Inner feeling? Less desire to drink? Or do I need to experience it to find out?

Morning all, and a big hello to you in the wing's over there!
Up and at 'em Waves!
Hi Rag's. Quickly in a nutshell, af works right here right now for me, big time. Moderation would be great, but for some reason, i'm back at square 1 within a couple of weeks. An otherwise smart, happening, thinking man, brought to a numbing halt, and what's worse, enjoying the numbness, and doing feck all. This is attractive to me, but is also a huge waste of my time, and a slow death as well. Not to mention the depression, and anxiety that goes with it. On balance, getting sloshed is too easy, and makes me far too lazy to get great work done. i.e. my music for one. Anyway, being af gives me great energy, alertness, sharper, hot lookin' dude, feeling fantastic, no fear, no depression/anxiety/worries, (still have lot's of bill's and life's drama's of course) greater clarity, focus, a general always present sense/feeling of well being and inner happiness. A great love of life, and all my possibilities. I now know that anything is possible for me. Af brings with it enthusiasm, and optimism too! (obviously) Almost no desire to drink, i love going to bars etc, to see bands, and it's great af. The drinking habit/lifestyle is being broken, crushed slowly but surely. There are humps to get over, but being almost 1 year af, i'm so full of life, busy forging my true path again, and loving it, that this feeling becomes more precious and important, desirable, than having a drink. I'm way over drinking now, the chains have gone, and i am one wild and free M@$%%&^*fecker. This is just the way for me right now.
Have a magical day folk's!

Good morning... lightening check in all.
For some reason I can stay up till all hours whilst drinking but when not I must keep country hours (bed by 7 and up again at sparrows). Get very little done but what the heck.. the irrits are slowly passing - sleep helps. Wishing all a great day!

Morning people...I get that Ficks...9.30pm is my bedtime when not drinking...and I'm 'zorsted by then. I love to hit the sack and read and it's fabulous when I'm sober (or drag MrCakes in there...G-string loved your post but you forgot to mention that sex is sooo much more awesome when you can remember it!!!)
Dave, you may not be at your final destination yet but try to focus on how far you've come - it's a long, long way from 3 bottles a day bro. It's an achievement you should be proud of. I haven't done 30 days yet (and I've been here 15months!!) but I've made MASSIVE changes since coming here. Just being more educated about alcohol & it's effects gives me so much power. And I'm at a place that I'm pretty happy with (if I can stay off the smokes...which I can)
Geez, I'm terrified of putting it out there again but how about trying AF October with me??
I'm ready to take on the world...or at least tennis with the old birds.
I bought new trainers yesterday from Aldi...yes the supermarket...will let you know how they go.

Anglecakes : sooo true about the sex.memory is truly a good thing when one preserves it.
So off now to do my day's tasks & will return again this evening.
