      THE NEXT DAY THREAD, September

Morning everyone...The dust has finally settled...so to speak. And I think it's all settled in my house!!! The trees are all dusty - we defo. need some rain to give it all a good wash down.
Mr Cakes & I went out for dinner last night - had a delicious meal. We shared a bottle of wine and then had a Tawny muscat with the cheese platter...it was all lovely but I feel like I've been hit by Darth Vader himself this morn.

      Thinking about doing AF October

I won't enter the ""where were pavs invented" debate except to say that Tawny's historical research skills are second to none! But is it "lamingtons" or "lemmingtons'? And how do you make them with raspberry outsides instead of chocolate ones??
THEY'RE NOT LAMINGTONS IF THEY DON'T GOT CHOCOLATE.
You could make the ones with raspberry outside, call them 'Mammingtons' and claim them as traditional Kiwi fare. Ha! Mammingtons!!

              THE NEXT DAY THREAD, September

              Good morning all,
I've just been watering down some of my plants and my verandah. I hate using water for washing decks and patios, but sweeping would take forever. I was a bit loathe to do it as I may be repeating the whole thing on Sat if we get another dust storm with the westerlies tomorrow. Meanwhile I continue to pack, but I've lost the initial impetus so have slowed down.
Gee Angel, what a strong reaction to half a bottle of wine. Must admit I wouldn't go the muscat though.

"A wonderful headache" ... I've never in my life had a headache I'd call wonderful! LOL.
Hope you both feel better as the day progresses.

Ive had raspberry lamingtons and they are lovely, I think better than the chocolate.

I have just managed to get 8 teams to play at Perth Heats baseball park before the main game in January so I am really excited about that.
Well id better go and make sure my boys are ready as I have to be at the school early today

                      THE NEXT DAY THREAD, September

                      Morning all!

We have heavy rain and wind this morning, will be a lot of trees down I think. Was going to go swimming with MIL this morning but will have to put plan B into action.Shame, because we got her floating around on a pool noodle last year and she loved it.

Enjoyed catching up on the Jedi chat last night.

Rags - are you ruthlessly sorting or just chucking it all into boxes? I always mean to sort, but don't, which is why I've just emptied the last of our boxes we shipped - 5 years later!

Was proud of myself for staying AF under pressure last night.

Oh well, think we'll have a mooch around the Mustafa Centre, huge shop in Little India that has EVERYTHING and resembles a 1970's department store, I love it. It doesn't however have chocolate or Raspberry Lamingtons, but it does sell all the necessary ingredients......

                      Onwards and upwards!

                      Bets.

                        Hi Sweaty,
Only mildly sorting.. mainly chucking into boxes, but in a semi logical way. Will do the big sort when we move in...almost everything will be in the garage so I'll bring in one box at a time and sort it and not start on the carton till I have sorted, thrown out or put aeway. This'll be a while though, as we'll only be living in a couple of rooms while plastering, painting, carpet, cornices, kitchens and bathrooms get done. When I was whining to a friend yesterday saying why am I doing this again she wisely said "well, look as the renovation you did as a test run for this one". Lovely lady.

Angel, Ahh the cheese. Blue, brie, stilton...... yum. I'll be able to resume my cheesemaking once settled in. I lurve cheese. So does Mr Rags. That's one reason why my cholesterol is sky high
Hey Ronnie, what is he competing in? Selected events or EVERYTHING? Wish him luck.

Ahhh - fellow Cheese Heads in Oz. Don't know if you're aware of this. Stephanie Alexander runs The Richmond Hill Cafe & Larder in Richmond, Vic. and from there she also operates The Cheese Club. I love it. She offers some fantastic imported and local cheeses, with tasting notes, delivered to your door. So, even living in the sticks, I can get my cheese jollies up to eight times per annum. (Just have a look at the current offer to give you an idea)

                          The Cheese Club

Check it out. I have no affilliations but love the service an have been a member for quite a few years.

Is there anything in the Monde Gastronomique that you don't know??

Thanks for the lead. Put it in favourites.

Hmmm, Does this mean we could arrange an online tasting evening and compare notes?
But please, not before early next year so I can join in.
