OK, I'm feeling overwhelmed already by all the 'stuff' in my life that needs to be done. Problem tenants, a dirty house, things to plan, and I'm tired from the trip, so I think I'll just stop thinking any further than 30 minutes ahead. Otherwise, I'll be chasing my tail all day. Might be a good way to lose weight, but won't get me anywhere! LOL

BTW, I've been researching and painting Native American quotes and proverbs. Their reverance of life and the earth is astounding, and so moving. This one really speaks to me today.

I listen to a cd called Ancient Voices, it' Native American chant's, absolutly beautiful and aweinspiring, I use it to kind of dance/meditate, when noone else is around I hasten to add.

Tawny, I use a lot of N.A. music, usually flutes, for yoga and meditation. It seems to reach deep inside to the soul.

I've been gathering these to paint on the beams and door facings in my cabin. It sits in the historic Cherokee nation area, where the People were taken from their homes and began the infamous "Trail of Tears". When we talk about political correctness and discrimination, we should look first to what was done to these beautiful, peaceful people out of the greed of the white man. I always had admired President Andrew Jackson until I found out he had done this. In my genealogical studies, I am most proud of knowing that I came from these people, and my husband from the Creeks. If all humans could be as in touch with the earth as they were, we wouldn't be talking about how we have trashed our planet. Sorry to wax philosophical, but having been just been there leaves a feeling of what we are missing.

Although, I'm pretty sure there is no indian blood running through my veins, I've always thought they had it right all along. The premise of 'owning' anything is so moot - in the end. If we all could just enjoy what we were given, instead of trying to conform the earth and its resources to what we believe to be progress.. we wouldn't be in half the mess we're in now.

If we don't learn from our past we are doomed to repeat it. I love the name of our valley, the Sautee-Nacoochee, except when I'm writing out the address! LOL Sautee was a Cherokee brave, and Nacoochee was the daughter of the local Creek chief. They ran away together, and when found by the Creeks, he was thrown off the rock face of Mt. Yonah (Cherokee for Sleeping Bear). Legend holds that Nacoochee jumped after him, and her father found them lying dead together at the mountain base, with their arms thrown across one another. Lovely legend.
