Best Friend
I am not sure how many of us can say that we have had a friend for 42 years but I had a best friend (went to kindergarden with me). She passed away yesterday and at the young age of 47. It has totally devasted me. I am heading to Long Island for her funeral. I will return next week. Hope everyone has a good week.Tags: None

Best Friend
Sorry to hear Time 2 a short poem i read at the loss of a dear friend a hard loss of mine by the bard ws
When to the session of sweet silent thought
I summon up remembrance of things past,
I sigh the lack of many a thing I sought,
And with old woes new wail my dear time's waste:
Then can I drown an eye, unused to flow,
When to the session of sweet silent thought
I summon up remembrance of things past,
I sigh the lack of many a thing I sought,
And with old woes new wail my dear time's waste:
Then can I drown an eye, unused to flow,
For precious friends hid in death?s dateless night,
And weep afresh love's long since cancelled woe,
And moan the expense of many a vanish?d sight:
Then can I grieve at grievances foregone,
And heavily from woe to woe tell o'er
The sad account of fore-bemoaned moan,
Which I new pay as if not paid before.
But if the while I think on thee, dear friend,
All losses are restored and sorrows end.

Time2Change,
I am so sorry to hear this for you and anyone associated with the passing of someone sooo young. I too lost my best friend when she was at 45, so I can relate to your post all too well. We had not known each other too long, but I truly loved her and could not believe someone so beautiful was not in my life any more. I have lost other good friends also at an early age; too many to mention.
For a long time and even still now I think I am going to go too, but I am not. I am still here to carry on. I know they walk beside me every day. I am trying to be a better person because of the gift of life and to honor their spirit. I hope that time will heal your sorrow.
I hope I have not offended you, but I really want you to move forward as your friend would want you to.

Time, I too have several of those old, dear friends, and I keep them close, so I can only imagine your sorrow. It's hard to lose someone who knows us so completely. Hubs lost his 17 years ago, and the loss is still there, but we celebrate him still, and keep his memory alive. It is the mark of a true friend to be so grieved. My heart is with you.sigpic
Never look down on a person unless you are offering them a hand up.
