    A sober observation

So, we're out in stunning scenery, 11 boats, 22 people, big party, LOTS of booze.

Most have been at it since noon or so. Nobody got totally stupid but here's an interesting observation: 'Normal' people admit or even announce if/when/that they are drunk. Big round of laughter. We (or at least, I) hide and deny being drunk - no matter how stupid we get.

It's not the first time, I've noticed this... but it was that much more obvious this past weekend because I was stone sober.

Sunnybirdie... you'll have a wonderful time - without the AL. Honestly, nobody else really cares what you are or aren't drinking and YOU will feel so much better without the poison!

I'm wishing you an utterly splendid holiday! alm:

Isn't it fun being sober around drinking people?

Observing people partying it up, once you do it a few times,
                it becomes easier and easier.

Good for you SE, you have experienced an important step of sobriety.

                  You are amazing Sunshine!

I have been very verbal about my alcoholism, thnking that others would, care or be interested. I was wrong and now I am embarrased.

                  Good for you!!

Sunshine, that is so funny becasue it is so true. I have truly enjoyed my sober moments when others have been drinking as it has been a real eye opener for me. Drunk people can be so offensive and it makes me go "wow, that was me". You're right though, that "I am so drunk" and everyone laughs is truely what "normal drinkers" do. When they don't have a problem with AL they know when to stop and can tell when they've had too much - that is what we lack......

Glad you had such a good weekend!
Every day is a day to start over and remember that I am powerless over my addiction. I will no longer give the BEAST any power over me - he can go straight to hell.

                          Oh.. I almost forgot...

Then there's the OTHER thing I'd like to really REALLY harp on:

NOBODY cares if or what you are drinking!

Once again, I had a ready-made, practiced in front of mirror response to whatever questions UNDOUBTEDLY would arise - and never did! Not one person paid attention, not one question, nothing.

Again... don't fret over what others may think or say... because they DON'T!

Colbe, hun... you are braver than most. I do not discuss my 'little problem' with others. In fairness, though... it may not be simply disinterest on the part of people you are talking to - it may very well be fear of not knowing HOW to respond, the subject being a little too close to home, or a combination of both.

                            Very true!
It was a real eye-opener for me when I went AF. I spent hours thinking up excuses to tell people why I wasn't drinking and never got to use half of them.

yes I have noticed the same behavior from my friends that drink regularly
and have over done it, particular my wife can be that way.
