Paul...I really liked your thoughts...I think they are much like I hope mine to be.
You say "I've been dry for a little while now and it's 9 months!" What a huge accomplishment. I want to be like that. I'm trying to taper down and feel i can be AF...this place has given me alot of hope.

Thanks to you and all the others for the inspiration and insights.

I agree tawnywitch, I feel terrible for all the fights I have had with my husband.

I love waking up in the morning and not having to do a personal inventory of my body to see what hurs, then a mental inventory to try and remember what I did the night before.

Why I love being Alcohol Free!

This is a great thread too!!

Here's just one of the countless reasons why I love being alcohol free.

I love the ability to take my contacts out each night.
-No more finding one dry and wrinkled on the bathroom counter.
-No more walking around with only one in, and being at work for an hour before I figure out why my eyesight's not quite right.

Why I love being Alcohol Free!

                  Not barfing every day!

Not needing to carry with me at all times all the OTC meds I have to use to control the effects of 1.5 bottle of wine/night habit, to wit:

benadryl, claritin (and have terrible wine allergies anyway)
gas x, ginger, pepcid complete, tums (stomach)
                  sudafed (congestion)
                  advil/alleve (headache, everything else ache)

                  Thanks for this thread!

                    Drylife,

I had to smile at your post.

I once spent a miserable day worried to death about my eyesight. I even googled eyesight/alcohol abuse. Then decided I had to back to my optician thinking there goes another ?200.

Later in the day I saw the dog wandering about with something in her mouth. It was one of the lenses out of my glasses.

                      OMG JackieClaire...

That post made me actually laugh out loud..it really did. I have glasses too, and can totally relate to missing lens. Never found my dog walking around with it though...hilarious! :H:H

I love being able to keep a promise, and not make unrealistic promises i couldn't keep when i was drinking. The sooner they forget about the pet chameleon the better
