I have just sent off a home liver test, should get the result's in 10 day's,does any one else out there have any experience in this,I am frightened that it will come back with bad result's or show no harm done which will encourage me to start drinking again,any advice would be great,

Hi Tawnywitch, gosh it is nerve wracking, I know.

My last liver functions were after 21 days AF and after being on Milkthistle and high doses of organic Vitamin B. They came back normal, at least I think so. It was for insurance ad theydid not load my premiums. I was so relieved that I tried to remain AF.

My father died of cirrosis, so it is a big motivation not to go the same way.

Hi again Tawny,

Never done one at home, always used the GP. He's not too bothered this time as he said the liver has over 500 functions and can sometimes give a false reading because it's dealing with something else other than alcohol, so I might worry unduly if it came back high.

There's probably instructions on the pack.

What do you do with it? The doc normally needs to take an armful of blood. (ouch)

Didn't really answer the question.

Normally I would have some bloods taken at the beginning of my alcohol trip.

Then after 6 weeks of not drinking another one.

They always come back normal.

hi i just had to do a finger prick and put it in a test tube,will let you know, i do take a lot of presript painkillers as well, i just hope my livers not shot!!

was there a questionerre (sp) with it?

there should be blood test for incurable nosiness.
