    THE NEXT DAY THREAD, October

ohhhhhhhhh ... that run was pretty ugly. All 11 minutes of it!! I am sooooo unfit. Can swim and cycle for reasonable times, but running is my worst thing for tri's. Still, at least te first one is now over and it can only get better from here!!

Actually, I aim to not just complete the triathlon (end February) but to be in the top 10% for my age group (40-49) .... should set me up well for being in the top 5% once I hit 50!!

Angel - high of 15 here today!! I was cold running in my polyprops! 35 degrees sounds like heaven!! II know how exhausting it can be though. And having spent lots of time in Ak over the last couple of weeks, people are complaining about humidity, even at colder temps (18-19)

Mr G - when you start your job??

I'm really looking forward to the long weekend - have promised myself a relaxed and healthy one. A last break before the countdown to Xmas!!

Arvo all - it's actually too nice a day to pull a POETS day. Warm enough for singlet - dog, that sun feels good on the back.

Some gorgeous bearded irises featuring now

I love iris season ....... bought 4 bunches (@ $3 a bunch!! so lovely to be able to have abundance so cheaply!!) to take to my friends tonight. Also a bottle of wine ( pinot noir - they like it, I dont!!) and some lemon lime and bitters.

I'm struggling with the thought of being AF tonight .... there is lots of "tomorrow it starts" in me that stops me getting moving.

            THE NEXT DAY THREAD, October

Morning/Arvo all. Very very sweaty here today, can hear some thunder rumbling - I hope it rains.

            Where's Ronners?

Thanks for the Iris pic Tawny - I must get a pic of my cossetted tomatoes posted

Mame - well done for heading out of the door and starting to run! I'm still doing a fair bit of Yoga and dog walking but I think I might need to ramp it up a bit now and try running again.

I start my new job at 2pm Singapore time. I have a new outfit, and a new pen, but am just sitting waiting - feels like the first day at a new school, but am really looking forward to having a wage of my own - however miniscule.

I've been trying out keeping wine in the house, and t doesn't work for me. It's peculiar because I no longer binge, just a couple of glasses is all I want, but its turning into every day again which I'm not comfortable with. If its not there I'm not bothered. I'd like to be able to offer visitors a glass if they pop round unexpectedly, but I think they might have to be content with a cup of tea.

Well I'm going to colour my hair (which is probably a bad idea 2 hrs before i start a new job), and make some oatmeal choc chip cookies which should kill enough time until its time to leave!

            Happy Friday

            Bets.

              Evening folk's!
I'm sure you'll knock 'em dead on your first day Betty. Good luck!
Mame, i start new job in a couple of weeks. Triathlon is such a great all over workout i reckon. Hope you build up to it slowly without injury.
Little gig tonight..yay! It's sort of a party/jam session with a few folk i haven't seen for awhile, which i'm looking forward to, however, there will be lot's of cigarette smoke and booze, which doesn't bother me that much, it's just that in case i get bored after a while, i have an exit plan! My little performance with a band i'm in will go for around 45 mins, and before and after this, will be other folk playing. My plan, is to be there from say 9.00 p.m. to about 11.30/12. Have advised band of this, so at least we can keep schedule tight ish, for short af attention spanner's like me. This way everyone's happy. I get to socialise, catch up with ppl, without abruptly disappearing, and also fulfill my commitment's with my band. Exit plan's are essential, i reckon, and if they can be 'win win' then we don't look too much like party pooper's? Just thought i'd share...........Having said that, here i am worried about being a snob. When i was drinking, my 'exit plan's' where ruthless!

Hope everyone is well. Well done on 7 day's Dave! (seen Tip's thread folk's?)

Lol Reg. And thank's. It's so great to hear the bac is working for you. You sound really positive, and as at ease as a parent could be, given the revolving head scenario's at your place. Have a great night mate, and hope family are well. Off to the shower, then to set my mob. phone alarm to 11.30 p.m. loudly. 'Oh, is that the time? Must go'...etc..... Nooo, just joking. Later folk's..........

                    THE NEXT DAY THREAD, October

Evening all.. tis late and I've got a bit of revision to do.. so here goes quick catchup:

A couple of days ago I discovered I can touch my toes! Such a wonderful thing to be able to do again. Then I began to experiment with driving a bit and found I can do that too.. During the last few weeks off work I?ve spent a lot of time researching & planning my kitchen reno so? what better than a roadtrip! Did a 10 hour round trip today and brought home a heap of components to begin the new project. Am feeling very tired and very pleased with myself. Mind you, have learned another good lesson about AL - the whole night before I kept waking up and worrying about why I should NOT go and do what I had planned. This sleeplessness & monumental self-doubt I put entirely down to AL. Thank goodness I recognised that and did what I?d planned. I can?t imagine how I got through the last year or two with AL undermining all my self confidence. The sleep deprivation as well! I?d forgotten again what that waking at 2am anxiety stuff is like. Only needed a short mod experience to remind me.

                    Oh and the other lessons:
                    - that I need more lessons on knots & how to tie things to roof racks;
                    - think twice before asking no.1 son to help in the kitchen - delayed on last leg of trip so phoned home to ask Mr 11 to please put the curry in the oven. We arrived home to find lovely yummy curry with bits of melted glad-wrap all over the surface. mmmmmmmmm
