THE NEXT DAY THREAD, October

Jeez Angel you're jetting along now. Any headaches ? Sleeping OK ? Anyone in your immediate family missing, presumed under a concrete slab in your back yard ?
No, slept really well last night (been drinking chamomile at night) and no headaches...bit cranky every now and then (comes in waves!!)But generally I'm a much nicer person right now. Although I can't let myself dwell on it...if the 'wouldn't mind a drink' comes in I change the subject in my head - it gets pretty noisy up there sometimes!!
Last week I really felt like texting my crazy brother and telling him to stop bloody threatening to jump off a cliff & do it already...terrible I know...but it's how I felt. I told my other brother & my Dad that...they were pretty horrified. Piss or get off the pot I say. But he's not in the backyard.

I know EXACTLY what you mean, love.... Is it real ...or just manipulation ?
If your 8 year old self met you, would they be proud?

OK, I'm offering up one of our foster kittens as a thread mascot for October. Because she looks like Tip, but also because she acts like Angel and we have called her Xena (as in Warrior Princess!!) Because, Angel, you are being so fabulous at the moment and I really admire how you are sticking to your guns and being really staunch!! So here she is ..... (hope I managed the technology okay)

And I haven't been AF as planned .... but I plan to follow Bridge's example and put the self-indulgent Mame down in favour of the sober and sensible one (although sensible is a relative term!!) Attached files

Let me just say ... my new sobriquet is sadly inappropriate.
As Madam Slash, I stink.
I have a buggered vented mandrel.

No. Mine is vented and much more difficult to attend to. :upset:

THE NEXT DAY THREAD, October

Evening all!
Ah, the Mandrel. Haven't seen one of those around for yonk's. The 'Vented Mandrel' is an ancient Celtic stringed instrument, thought to have been introduced by the Moor's, to the south west of Ireland, via Brittany, around 950 A.D. However, the classic 'venting' design, as shown in Slasher's pic, is a poor and inaccurate reproduction of the original, and not renowned for it's reliability. A new set of strings usually fixes the problem.

'I am part of all that I have met, yet all experience is an arch wherethro', gleams that untravelled world whose margins fade, forever and forever when I move'

Thank you Mr.G. I'll attend to the strings - however do you recommend a goat or pig skin membrane? Fret buzz is an issue.
