I remember Melbourne being stinking hot at times and then freezing cold. I haven't been back for 9 years tho. It must have changed heaps. I'd like to go back sometime, but never in Winter. Or Summer. Maybe Autumn would be good.

THE NEXT DAY THREAD, October
Morning,
Evil Hyde-Mame posting this morning. That's what you get when you wake up on a Tuesday morning after a long weekend, and the weather has turned to crap, and the cats are fighting, and you feel like a useless piece of shit after having got drunk yesterday. I bought some gin, which I dont even like. I'm so sick of my own insanity.
Did manage to drag my arse out of bed early to get to the gym (very half-heartedly) and come back to do 2 hours work. My new flexible working hours routine started today .... this lets me work at home until 9-ish and then I can go down to get Mum up and into the shower, and at work by about 10:30. Only short-term - one of my brothers (lives in the US) coming out in about 5 weeks time and staying until Xmas. And part of the plan was making sure I get on here every morning to keep me on the straight and narrow for the day as I dont like doing personal internet stuff at work.
off I go ......Never give up, for that is just the place and time that the tide will turn

Morning all,
It must be very difficult to stay off the booze at this time, Mame. It would be for me. I hope you can at least have some sort of minimum 'self maintenance plan' going, and take care of you as best you can. Great you're checking in here. It help's me keep my eye on the main game.
Sending you strength, and best wishes.

I'm trying Mr G, I''m trying. And quite a lot of the time I'm keeping sane and sober. But then I lose it .... and often there is nothing that triggers it off, except that sometimes I think it is about times when the pressure goes off and I no longer have to be responsible. Like this weekend I had great 2 days in the garden, Mum started talking openly about going into nursing care (less for me to do) and my niece moved into a great new apartment and my brother will stay with her until his time is up. So at the moment we are planning Xmas!
But with the short-term optimism comes a sense of how fragile it all is. Been tossing up whether to go back onto anti-depressants ........ even while knowing that completely cutting out the biggest depressant in my life would be the best start!Never give up, for that is just the place and time that the tide will turn

Evening all,
Sorry to read that some of the wombats threw a bit of a wobbly over the weekend but hey, you know the drill.
So ... could you all please step into my office now? Thank you.
OK - I've put Mr. G on "ignore" so he cant read our posts. As tomorrow is his special day, I think we should organise something nice to celebrate the anniversary of his first year AF. I'm good at making antipasto type nibbly things ... what can you provide? Everybody should bring a plate. It's the Oz thing to do. Commit to something.
Oh, he'll get such a surprise!

Ever since starting to lose the hair on TOP of my head, my follicle growth has shifted to other parts of my body.
I am now the proud owner of 11 hairs on my back, 37 on my chest, 4 in my left ear, 6 in my right ear, and a veritable jungle sprouting in my nose. The ones in my left nostril seem to be flourishing more than the ones in the right. Maybe because I'm left-handed? Now as for Mr. G, I'm sure that he has an even distribution, seeing that he is even-handed. Tawny won't have anythnig to contribute on this topic - she has no nose hair.
Seeing that the topic of discussion is on the little jungle, I will focus only on that. Should you have an interest in the other 58, I will be happy to indulge as a separate post.
Nosehair as humour:
My nosehair gives rise to much mirth in the House of Bounce (as I like to refer our little Tiger den). The cubs point and start cracking up.
Nosehair as eye contact deflector:
When I feel a tad vulnerable, I let my nosehair grow until they peek out of my nostrils. That way, people look at my nose and not into my eyes
Nosehair as self-defense weapon:
When confronted by a potentially violent situation, I exhale sharply through my nose. The resulting force makes my nosehair wiggle like little snakes on Medusa's head. Even violent criminals run for their lives.
Nosehair as environmental pollutant filter:
In my early years, I was prone to illnesses and fevers. That was a direct result of having sparse nosehair. Now that I have a thick growth, dust and insects are trapped much more efficiently. The only downside is sthat I have to clean my nose more regularly to keep the airflow sufficient.
Will that suffice, oh Sheepish One?I'll do whatever it takes
