    Heheheeh... y'all gonna hate me!

A friend here on the island keeps pestering me to go riding with her (she won't go out alone).. on her hubby's horse.. a STUNNING Morgan! I mean, he's just drop dead gorgeous! I rode him a few weeks ago for the first time.... NIIIIIIIIIIIIICE! I really ought to take her up more on being her companion rider

        Hi, Cowgal!

Hope you find another job soon, I'll send some positive vibes your way! And we can be your cyber (as well as sober) riding buddies, for the time being. :h

Sunshine - You're giving us Morgan envy! You should go ride him. You're doing a good deed by making your friend get on and ride! Not like me and someone at my barn that yacked until dark, so we went and got Mexican food instead of riding! :H

            Sunshine -

Not sure I want to try that! :H

One of the lesson horses where I used to work used to get these powerful sneezing fits, and would always fart really loud whenever he sneezed. One time it was so bad, it looked like smoke coming out either end. He had a pretty bouncy trot, and this little boy was being bounced around, was cracking up laughing to the point of his face being beet red, bouncing more because of laughing so hard at a sneezing, farting appaloosa!
I wish I'd had a video camera, it was so friggin' funny! Horses can be so entertaining.

Peace.... you gotta love those patient mares that let kids climb all over them! I just love watching kids and horses... the kids are so care free and without fear and (most) horses instinctively know to slow down a little and just be patient

It's sad, that she was forced to retire but I'm so glad to read that she will be allowed to just be a horse now. They're planning on breeding her next Spring. If you're not familiar with what happened, Matine was injured last year stepping off a trailer - never did heal completely (at least not to top competition level).

Oh dear... you better wish me luck tomorrow!
I'll be doing my first show in almost 30 years; probably just halter, showmanship, and western pleasure - with Atlas And, I haven't rode him or any other horse in 3 months! Well, it ought to be entertaining, at least :H

You'll be great, SunnyButt! I ran into an old friend of mine the other day I haven't seen in years. She and her husband are really involved in the competition with the horses and the little 2-wheeled buggies, don't know what they're called. Anyway, I understand it's an Olympic event, and they've competed all over the world. She told me to bring my horse-crazy granddaughter over and let her ride at their farm, only about 10 minutes from me. I've got to do that!

GO SUNSHINE!!!!! How did I miss this thread yesterday?

Ruby, there i s a discipline called combined driving, which is similar to 3 day eventing (dressage, cross country, and stadium jumping), but done driving. There's a dressage test, cross country (over rough terrain, tight turns, and maybe the third one is a timed pattern around cones in an arena (I'm not 100% sure on that part).
I went out and watched one with a friend that owned a draft horse. The cross country was pretty wild, two wheeling around corners, between trees, etc, and done at speed. One guy with a two horse team and four wheel cart tipped the wagon over into a ditch. They got it out and kept going. They have a person that rides on the back of the cart to help balance the thing (kind of like a fireman standing on the back of the truck , but not just riding on it). This old guy was a trip, he was so into it. There were also all types of horses and carts - even mini horses (I think they got timed differently, they're so teeny tiny). It was different, I'll say that!

GG, hope you and Atlas had a great time :h
I bet the cart thing is a hoot! My boys went to a mini horse ranch when they were like 4 and 2, Winner's Circle I think it's called in Sonoma County, CA.
I hope this thread stays bumped up!
