    IRISHs Words of Wisdom

I find myself rubbing my temples and thinking feck, feck feck. Over as situation I am involved in but cannot control but I can stand my ground on my boundaries. I stood up to my Dad, God love him, but when we experience relationships and a situation arises I was glad to have the presence to say I'm sorry, I cannot take on your assault. You will have to find another outlet but it will not be me. I love you but cannot continue this. And hung up. He is sulky to day. But it is his stuff. I can't take it on. So thank you Irish for those recent posts of yours. The were so empowering. I hope many paid attention to them.

Greenie, it seems when some get elderly it either bring out the best or the worst. As much as you love the person, it is their feelings expressed from their state-of-mind. It's a sad thing, but something more common, so you have to remember these changes when your dealing with him.

They were great posts from Irish were they not?!!

I'd always loved that quote by Eleanor Roosevelt that says: "No one can make you feel inferior without your consent". I know at times I have to remember this when dealing with my own relationships and take a step back if need be at times. I can actually learn a lot about myself by how I react to others so it is not always the case that the problem gets worse because of my anger or frustration etc. I actually take something positive for me out of the situation as well, as probably you have done with your dad Greenie. I often used to mistake that being assertive was coming from a place of ego. I can see today though that that is not the case and being assertive in my life is healthy and empowering for my spiritual well being.
