    Question for CV!

    Hi CV!
First off, thanks for your continuous wealth of research and input on this site- we just love you around here!! :l
Now, on another topic - remember when you posted some info on the amino acid that is expecially good for anxiety/depression etc (L-Tryp something...what was it again???) - I want to get it and thought it might help for newbies...can you confirm which one that was again...
Thanks CV - you are the best, the BEST!
    Love and hugs

    Question for CV!

    Hi Jen,

    Thanks for the words!

The best ones for the anxiety that I have found are the l-tryptophan or 5-htp, GABA and phenibut (with p5p, activated b6) and SAM-E.

The l-glutamine can help with cravings and also some anxiety/depression issues because of it's ability to help the brain build the right neurotransmitter stores.

Two others which are also excellent to help with anxiety only are l-theanine and taurine.

Remember especially with gaba that more is not better so the doctors recommend that you should not exceed 3 mg daily with that one.

      Question for CV!

      HMMM!

Hmmm, thanks CV! I forgot about that "more is not better" thing with GABA. I am taking 150 mg of topa as of today - doesnt that increase the GABA in your brain? As such, do you think I should be decreasing the GABA supp I am taking (I take 2 per day from the mywayout health store?)
      Thanks again!
      Love jen

            Question for CV!

Jen, if you are feeling fine and not anxious at your current dosage, I would stay with it, of course, check with your doctor if you feel any issues.

Because GABA acts differently with each individual and there are gaba receptors on all of your cells, it is distributed a bit differently in each person and may not cross the blood brain barrier as easily in some as in others. That is where phenibut comes in for others, which russian scientist created especially to cross the blood brain barrier. It is a specially formulated type of GABA engineered to cross the blood brain barrier more easily than GABA.

Ivy, for an excellent scientifict site on all of the aminos, common or not, you can use this link. I'm sure it will help and if you need other sites, please feel free to ask or PM.
