    notes from the porch

I have to revamp my life. My friends don't fit anymore. I'm the loyal dog that crawls up after a swift kick. I don't need that. I want to surround myself with people who lift me up. People who nourish my soul and spirit. I wonder if the friends I leave will notice I'm gone. It doesn't matter. Apparently I didn't fill a space in their life nor did they mine, A habit. Ahhhh that got your attention didn't it? Habits. Habits. I feel lonely from time to time but it is a good kind of lonely. If you cannot feel comfortable alone with yourself, welll... you have some work to do. Or not. Just my musings from the porch. I think hydrangia isgoing to bloom for me again.

Greenie, Some how the thought of sitting on your porch, talking philosophy, aromatherapy, complimentary healing or just plain BSing.....sounds like a lovely way to spend an evening!

When we make radical improvement in our lives, it seems that our relationships do change. It should not matter to others whether we drink or not, but it does. Couple that with the fact that we no longer enjoy environments where drinking is the primary sport, and well.....that pretty much says it all. As for alone time.......I have grown to love it! I love Dave, and my family and we spend good quality time together, but, I have come to really treasure my time alone and yes, I love my own company. But a few good friends are always like fine treasure.

You have grown so much and I am certain that new people, people that will treasure you are coming your way!

              Hi greenie.
I sure do like your porch notes far better than the notes from the hole. They are much more positive.
I also am less my friends these days (better than being friendless somehow :H )
But, be that as it may, I am far better off now, than I was then. These are people who would think no less of me for passing out sitting at the kitchen table, vomiting from drinking too much or cracking a beer at 10am. I don't need or want people in my life that find that kind of behaviour acceptable.
I am content in my aloneness. I am grateful for my sobriety.

I would love to spend an evening with you on your porch, greenie, pondering life, and watching your hydrangia rebloom for you :l

You have come a long ways. You are such a lovely caring person. You have been there for me at times when I was at my worst. Your friendship is something I treasure, even though we don't speak so much anymore. I wish you the very best life has to offer. You deserve that, and so very much more.:l:h:l

              xoxo

My GF called me. I have never had such a loving caring conversation in my life. Oh except when we did that once before. She is the one who came to my house in my deepest darkest hour with no lights on and the blinds closed and yanked me off the couch and we went to resto for soup. God I thoutht I needed to let her go but he is the wind beneath my wings,
