I always talk to them Starty - I used to do it when I worked at a big greyhound place, I would explain what I was trying to do for the dogs and they would settle right down, perhaps it makes your tone change which relaxes the dog.

Happy homeworking, I had better jump in the shower, I'm in the first and last race so it will be a long day waiting around.
