Hi, all.

Just a quick note about some updates around here.

* We've finally gotten rid of the duplicate chat window below, so hopefully it won't be so confusing

* Last night I added a room called "Parlour" (thanks, Kate) in chat, so if the general area gets too crowded, you can retreat with others to a less hectic spot. Do this in chat by using the pull-down window at the top to change rooms. Don't let the door hit you on the way out, ha.

* We've added a donation button above (he's still tweaking), as per a recommendation made by members earlier. Completely voluntary, of course, and we'll continue to keep the board open to all. But it'll go a long way in helping to support the technical and labor costs of this community. Thanks in advance to those who choose to donate.

* We'll be adding a "Private Message" that blinks red when you have new mail. This should make it easier to see unread messages, particularly for newbies who may not know about private messaging. I saw this on another board and thought it was pretty nifty.

More later, I'm still catching up on posts!

my mum is like that too. - WILL NOT give C/d dets over internet. Completely understandable,.

Spmeone tried to buy something for ?500 a couple of months back - in fact it was a holiday - cheeky buggers !!!!! - using my c/c details.( about $1000 ), but because it was not in line with my usual spending - about ?50 tops for me, my c/c company declined it. They phoned me to check up op on it . I thouht that was excellent customer service.
But just brings home to you , when you pay with c/c over the web - anyone can get your details..
I don't mean here of course.
but it just is a bit scary - so- maybe a phoneline, or an address for US users might be a good idea, for people a bit wary of giving details .
Just a follow-on thought.

Okay, I think the updates are complete! Please let me know if you're still running into any problems with chat--or have other difficulties on the board. (I hope to add a "How To Use the Message Board" section soon.) Slowly but surely, we're getting everything into tip top shape. Feedback is always welcome and appreciated.

I've been thinking a lot lately about the most effective means of supporting this community and I'm reminded that there are many way to do so. A number of you are already involved in those efforts: the random acts of kindness; the advice and support for new members (and old); the courageous posts when you reveal your most solemn secrets and touch someone else with your honesty.

Like many of you, I find myself brought to both tears and laughter by much of what is found here. I think it's a really important place and one where a lot of healing can happen.

For that, I thank each and every one of you for the very important contributions you have made to this community.
