Rain in My Heart Documentary
One of the multitude of things that grabs me about this work is that the documentarian is there to document on film certain behaviour(s) of the subject(s). There should be an invisible wall that is built between the film crew and the subject(s) and this should add to the verisimilitude of the work and in most cases is essential to the piece.
In this case he makes mention of his reluctance to intervene early on in the piece, something along the lines of "I will be there, but I cannot stop you from picking up that drink".
It is easy to see how deeply he is involved in, and is impacted by his work when he visits Vanda and finds her with a bottle of Vodka. To be able to watch and film someone damaging themselves in this way says a lot to me about the dedication to the cause of getting the message across!

Thanks for the links, I will watch this again. Harrowing stuff indeed but I recomend that everyone should see it.
Can you believe I watched this when it was first broadcast and sat with a beer in my hand. The mind of an alcoholic in full flow is truly baffling. I thank God I found MWO and you guys.Ethanol is a toxic chemical, why would I drink it?

I watched it through this morning in one straight session and the follow up. It is so very powerful, it was the funeral of Nigel that had the most impact on me.
I'm grateful to those four people and their families for allowing themselves to be filmed, and to Paul of couse. It was sobering (pun intended) too that the Doctor confirmed his experience that there has been a huge increase in people seriously ill from alcohol and so many young women.
Thanks for posting it startingover.I love you, I'm sorry, please forgive me, thank you.

Hey Onie,
I can't seem to play the link you posted. I get the post , but it doesn't play when I hit play. What is the follow-up???
Have a friend who has a friend who just killed himself while going through withdrawals...SO sad and scary at the same time. I say that because while I don't have bad wd's when I stop drinking, I have been that sad before. Really makes me think of how it affects the ones left behind. And that doesn't just go for actually killing yourself, but not living up to your potential as well.
